I thought you where just joking.

This can only be a life threatening situation in a country that normalises carrying murder tools.

I bet in Europe a threat would be “i will call the cops because i know i am in my rights” and those cops are just going to do their boring administrative job and not murder you.

I don’t blame the woman in context of it being America but the rational response is you get back in your car, lock the doors, possibly drive and call the cops about a dangerous mentally ill person.

He followed her through a store. He would follow her with his car. Uncontrolled rage, which he had, has no bounds. I would not be surprised if he’s just racist and seeing her skin color made him even angrier. Probably watches fox news all day or listening to podcasters telling him how ‘welfare queens’ are the problem in the world. Point is, there is probably nothing this lady could have done to calm that fucker down. “Army veteran” oh yeah fuck that guy. Killing brown people is probably entertainment for him. Rest in piss fuck face, hope you burn in hell. Glad she shot him dead. Hopefully got justice for a lot of families abroad.

Nowhere does it say he followed her trough a store, or that she ever entered the store.

“DiGuglielmo inexplicably abandoned his car in the through lane of travel" and went into the store, before shortly returning to his vehicle”

It is definitely possible that he is a racist, i honestly do get the same vibe. But where just reading a barebones article with many unanswered questions. Making suck assumption is very easy from where we stand.

Neutralise yeah but not with guns or permanent bodily harm. Hold you on the floor till the cops come maybe.

I don’t think many people have full time security in Europe though, not even politicians.

Harassment is like trowing a stinky egg or yelling. You will get fined for doing that and maybe a little jail.

Did some quick research on harassment of politicians in Europe.

“During the 2024 European elections campaign, there were serious incidents in several countries. Nevertheless, acts of physical violence remain isolated and less frequent in the EU than in many other parts of the world”

I think it’s a good argument. Is it not the truth that Europeans in power get on the spot protection while those that don’t have any power are forced to be sitting ducks from random acts of violence? So much for equality…

Well the stats I was shown from a gun safety class like 10 years ago showed that Europe was going through a violent rape crisis. The instructor said how USA doesn’t have this issue because more and more women carry guns (majority students were women at the class) All this I learned in gun safety, I think people should take gun safety class so that their eyes are opened to how unprotected we are against threats

I mean “you people” as in “assholes that think that guns are the solution to any safety concern”. I also like guns, but thinking that someone getting shot was an appropriate way to resolve this situation is stupid as fuck. She was literally by her car and could have left instead of pulling a gun in the first place. Just because it’s legally justified by Florida’s backwards ass laws doesn’t mean it’s not absurd.

Yeah it’s the same here in Canada. It’s honestly not even like we don’t have guns; I grew up in a small town and a lot of families had them for hunting. The difference though is that they were always locked up and treated as a dangerous tool rather than just a toy or a fashion accessory like they seem to be in the US.

The thought of fearing for my life regularly to the point where I feel the need to carry a firearm for self preservation is absurd to me and gives me active warzone vibes. I don’t understand how Americans can’t see that adding more guns is the most brain dead “solution” to their problems.

They haven’t even used their weapons to take on an oppressive government like they’ve endlessly claimed they’d do

Fascists aren’t real in Europe. Exactly. Only in the US do fascists and violent racists exist. You are so right. You can trust all self-identifying fascists and racists in Europe to be peaceful and non violent. You are completely safe around them because they follow the laws imposed on them. They respect law and order.

Please look up the European rape crisis. 10 years ago my instructor told us how unprotected women are in Europe because they can’t own a gun. In the past 10 years rapes increased by 150%! The threat is real and protection is needed

Edit: I find it sad that people don’t dispute the statistics and just continue to report me. Facts vs feelings and such

The US is literally worse than the entire EU despite having fewer inhabitants lmao

          https://www.statista.com/statistics/191137/reported-forcible-rape-cases-in-the-usa-since-1990/

In 2024, there were 127,527 reported rape cases in the United States

          https://www.statista.com/statistics/1072770/number-of-rapes-in-europe/

          France: 42,000

          Germany: 13,000

          Sweden: 9000

          Spain: 4500

Rest combined: <30,000 (roughly estimated by me)

Edit: The statistic does not include all EU nations. Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands are the largest one’s missing from what I can see.

The EU has 100,000,000 more inhabitants by the way.

Also most rapes are domestic. That’s also the primary reason for the lack of reports - people do not want their marriage to end, their families/friends to turn their backs etc. What use is a gun here?

No more arguing, we need to come together as a community, my post trying to unite:

Community, this morning I see a lot of Anti-gun and Anti-stand your ground sentiment. I think it’s unfair to bring what this woman did with her gun to the conversation. We should feel more empathy for her situation in that moment. She felt threatened and she dealt with that issue the way she was trained.

As a Fuck Cars community we need to focus on this situation as an example of how the car creates animosity between people. If both individuals arrived there in a different form of transportation, they may have not crossed paths like this. However, because it was in a car it created friction. I experience this friction in my day to day life and that’s why I hate cars. Please let’s focus on that as a community, let’s focus on how the automobile divides us, makes us angry, tears apart our community. That’s the point of this post, IMHO.

Thank you, and I’m sorry for arguing all morning. Good day.

My objection is that all you added to the conversation was the words “European rape crisis”. Absolutely nothing more of value was added by attaching a screenshot of an idiot machine’s reply to those words.

I’m definitely not anti-gun. While I’m largely undecided on the issues of “stand your ground” and “castle doctrine”, I don’t really see a problem with how the woman in this case handled the situation, so you’re barking up the wrong tree by replying to me with any of that.

              Furthermore:

I think it’s unfair to bring what this woman did with her gun to the conversation.

I don’t understand how you can say that with a straight face when the post title and news article headline is “Woman who shot man during confrontation over parking space won’t be charged”.

                  Let me explain:

I enjoy spirited driving, track days, go karting, and some other parts of cars and car culture. At the same time, I believe public transit needs to be dramatically, massively reprioritized over passenger cars. And I think trucks and SUVs should require a commercial driver’s license to legally operate.

And I put my money where my mouth is by gladly paying the ~$1000 per year RTA excise when renewing tabs for the expensive sporty electric wagon I own, which funds Sound Transit 3, in my opinion the nation’s most ambitious and impactful transit expansion.

I also often use the light rail to get to and from Seattle proper from the suburbs. And I very often have friends come visit whom I pick up and drop off at that same transit station.

When I travel abroad I go out of my way to refuse taxis, much preferring to use transit or even walking when that’s a reasonable alternative.

And at home I, at nearly all costs, avoid ever using any “rideshare” platforms.

You’re so lost in hate and losing to facts and logic that you continue to argue in circles
