The tracks are displayed wider than the actual gps ping and gps drift happens indoors causing wider tracks. But I do visit neighbors’ buildings as well so it’s a combination maybe?

I just came here from reddit since it deleted the use of old.reddit and I hate the phone app and the new layout of the website. This seems like a better community too!

Oh also I’m not a van lifer or truck driver. I just loved driving around this country on my vacations. Though I have soured on it in recent years with how things have been going (due to politics and how strange people have become in rural areas).

Fog of World is an app where you “track” where you have been. You earn badges from various places you’ve been and earn flags from the countries you visit. It’s not really a competition since you don’t connect with anyone online. All data is stored on your phone, so if you don’t have it backed up and lose your phone you lose all your achievements. It encourages you to explore the world around you and encourages you to take a road less travelled.

Here is an example from where I live. Nearest park where I can “touch grass” is >30 min walk. It’s a very real thing for a lot of people in LA. I’m not going to zoom in to my specific neighborhood but from this screenshot is the proof.

I’ve driven through a lot of the USA. I also took a road Trip in central Europe once. I totally agree with this sentiment about USA. Very sick of living here and hoping to have the opportunity of emigrating to somewhere in Europe soon, I just want to try it once. I may regret not trying more than trying and failing to live there.

I’m jealous of your safety culture. I walk my 3 month old around my neighborhood in los Angeles. The intersection right outside my apartment has a 5 lane road (2 lanes each direction and a turning lane in the middle). Cars will turn haphazardly from the left lanes when turning right or vice versa. They never use turn signals nor check for pedestrians, the police refuse to do anything saying pedestrian must be aware of their surroundings. We truly live in an evil unwalkable environment here in the states.

Well Poland has progressed greatly, but you did mention that small villages are struggling greatly with the policies since EU integration. Obviously things aren’t as rosy as the economic numbers suggest for Poland since there is a portion of the population that feels left behind

It’s economic terrorism. The owners need homeless on the street to control the working class. They need people to suffer so that the working class continues to live in fear and not question the billionaires existence

I still have family that lives in the zakopane area. When I talk to them the stuff they say reminds me of trump supporters in USA. Very conspiratorial and I can’t reason with them because they use Facebook sources. Also polling always undercounts these types of people… Once again look at USA. Just my 2 cents but things are getting weird there in Poland.

This same type of thing happens here in the United States. The amount of small towns that have been absolutely destroyed due to “corporate farming” is high. Most small town in the USA have been hurt by these industrial farming practices. Although let’s not forget, my parents hated being forced to farm to survive. They dreamed of just having a job and some free time without needing to toil in the fields. So the question is, was joining the EU and ending up in these positions better for the people of Poland?

Though I understand what you’re saying, I wouldn’t say farming is a “job” here. My family, as recently as the 90s, would literally supplement their livelihood by living off the land. The cattle, crop was to survive off of. The community would help each other with harvest. I wouldn’t say the villages are dying, instead they are being commercialized. The villages were dying in the 90s when people were moving out of Poland. Now there is an actual real estate market, in the 90s few would by a home in one of the valleys around zakopane. Just my opinion, not a fact since afterall my family were one of many to GTFO of Poland for a “better life”.
