It looks like a truck got stung by a bee and had anaphylaxis
Modest trucks for tradesmen that will build our future infrastructure? Nah!
Over-bloated monstrosity for men with certain genital inadequacies? YES!
Honestly, I’d rather have a cyber truck, and I mean that in the worst possible way.
Ah yes, the Child Killer 5000
Now even more efficient in doing so!
Oh look, it’s another tiny peen machine.
God I hate these stupid trucks.
Rivian is heavier and faster
Yeah but those headlights don’t look intimidating when I’m 3" away from the CAR in front of me.
And cheaper! Even the most expensive, 1000+ HP quad motor model, with all upgrades!
More effective at killing kids than ever before!
And those 3.5 seconds only cost you $0.25 if you pay $5 per gallon.
bargain!
To 96 km/h you say? Is it because it runs out of gas before 100 km/h?
96 km/h is ~ 60 mph
Before I posted I knew someone was going to make this comment. It was made in jest, I didn’t sincerely believe it would run out of gas before 100 kph 😉
I liked the joke
Thank you, that’s very kind
My engineer portion of brain: super cool
The rest of my brain: dammit, they’re going to sell these to any ninny who can afford one, and I’ll have to survive on/near roads with them
Hopefully that $148k price tag is enough of a filter
Anecdotal evidence, but people I know that buy these kinds of monstrosities only look at/care about the monthly lease payments
I’ve seen a lot of trailer homes (stationary ones that can’t be towed) with vehicles that cost several times what the house likely cost.
0% no cash down loans will help those who want this car. Oh wait you have bad credit. 39% and the traid in of your current car. We can roll the negative equity into the loan. Spread this out of 150 months and the repayment should be manageable if you take up a second job.
Oh good. Only people who can afford to crash will be buying them.
Just people who can’t think ahead.
Do you have any days that shows these sport trucks actually cause more damage than some dude in a beater? Enthusiasts tend to like their shit.
Fuel consumption please ?
10 kids per Freedom Mile!
Yes
Yet it’s illegal to operate on any public road an ebike with a 750 watt motor, which equals about 1 hp. Follow the lobbyist’s money for more answers.
Funny how the legal thing is the danger to others, and the illegal thing is the danger to self.
Muh externalities
Nothing shouts “freedom” like that.
Automotive journalism is a cesspit of seething coke-pithed misogynists who are so pissed off that it’s not the 80s anymore, they can’t stand it.
Not sure about the coke and misogyny but it’s definitely full of manboys who think “fast=cool”. Even the beloved Top Gear was full of masturbating to supercars.
There was an accident were a Polish automotive journalist crashed a Ferrari he was test driving. He was going something like 200km/h in a city, lost control and hit a concrete column. The passenger died*. The media was full of people praising automotive journalists for a couple of days with idiot comments like “it’s such a dangerous job. imagine you’re test driving a supercar on a mountain road. how can you resist going fast?”. For fuck’s sake…
*The driver had a serious brain damage (as a result of the accident, not sure about before it) and spend some time in a coma. When he woke up he become sort of a celebrity. Never went to prison or anything.
People stopped telling me about how big/fast/powerful their cars are, because I’d point out , like an asshole, that they don’t tow anything, need to carry heavy loads, take it to the racetrack or really need anything like that and a smaller car would make a lot more sense for ther lifestyle.
They’re pretty shit at hauling loads. Awful beds and low tonnage compared to other options. American pickups are what you get if you don’t know what you’re doing. They’re definitely showbag vehicles.
Doctor: Does your family have a history of mental illness?
Ron Sawnson: I have an uncle who drives a pickup to an office job
I tend to silently judge people who attach speed or size to there personality. And buying a car to make you feel like a bigger person is the greatest waste of resources.
It’s towing their ego and the public roads are their racetrack.
On a sidenote, ashole-ing your way to inner peace sounds like a philosophy I can get behind.
“Hey! Wanna see my new truck? It’s got a 7.8-liter eng–”
“What is the sound of one hand clapping?”
“Wha-- oh, I don’t know.”
[Smack]
“Geez, I thought you Buddhists were supposed to be peaceful!”
“You’re probably thinking of Mahayana Buddhism.”
“Well, what’re you?”
“Asshole-yana. Do not disturb my serenity. You’ve been warned.”
I bet this happened 😂 truck owners telling you just talking to you abt their trucks all day 👌👍
Something that handles like a turd like that has absolutely no business going that fast.
People are going to ram those into buildings
Tbh, this is a TRX. They are built with performance in mind first so they handle insanely good for what they are. This is a racing truck.
Now do they need to exist as pavement princesses? No.
“Insanely good” for a heavy, tall truck with fat tires. Which on public roads is still worse than your average sedan because you can’t escape the laws of physics.
The only race these are “racing trucks” would be for is off-road races where traction is limited and suspension travel is more important than lateral Gs, responsiveness and cornering stability and maybe drag races just for shits and giggles if you don’t care about being efficiently competitive at it.
Nothing like what you need to control these in an emergency maneuver while doing 100+ mph on public roads like what the people who will buy those will do because they’ll want to show off how fast their “racing” truck can go.
60 mph is too fast?
I doubt that. Probably handles well. It will likely just crush children a little faster.
These cars handle great. Modern adjustable suspension is magic. The only real issue is the visibility without a front camera and gas mileage in the grand scheme vs other trucks.
I’ve driven a modern pickup truck. It felt like driving a tall barge. Steering inputs felt like they were connected to the front wheels by mail order both in responsiveness and tactile feeling. You don’t drive it as much as you aim it down the road and hope you won’t need to make a sudden correction because if you overcorrect you’ll only know one second too late. Best I can describe it to non-car people is that it is like playing Mario Kart with a 1 second input lag.
Any kind of aggressive turn quickly overwhelms the fat and soft tires and traction breaks unpredictably. And because there is no weight on the back once it breaks loose it is extremely difficult to recover from it.
There is no way you would be able to successfully perform an emergency maneuver at the same speeds as even a basic boring sedan, let alone a proper sports car that normally comes with that kind of power.
People should experience actually driving a vehicle to their limits on a closed track at least once in their lives to understand. Let alone experience how an actually good handling car behaves under those conditions in comparison.
You have not driven a modern pickup with trophy truck adaptive suspension. And you likely haven’t driven anything like an x5m. They are absurdly capable. You also absurdly exaggerate modern truck handling. They are quite good even on the economy trucks.
PS:You’re speaking to an scca and nasa instructor with well over 30 races in podunk shit you haven’t heard of. So while I’m not the fastest in the world I do know enough to call out a moron claiming that modem trophy trucks with adaptive dampingers lack steering responsiveness and compare it to a fucking cx5 😂
You also absurdly exaggerate modern truck handling. They are quite good even on the economy trucks.
Oh hell no. Now I know you’re just lying.
I don’t know how it is physically possible to have that much speed with that much mass and handle “well”.
They’ve gotten real good at it. I really doubt these things get into higher rates of accidents or cause worse injuries.
