Cars are still roughly an order of magnitude less emitting for the same trip compared to planes so in the worst case it’s still a win, as long as it doesn’t increase public subsidization of car-centric infrastructure. I think I would personally take rail if I were presented with car or train. I can at least do something while riding the train or even work remotely or something.
It’s the same everywhere in the American political system just the GOP is the best example. Institutional Democrats spend insane amounts of time and money blocking competent intelligent people who would threaten the status quo with their policies.
These laws and normalization of rights violations are the perfect substrate for totally-not-Hitler-2.0 to get elected and take the reigns on, preventing any checks or balances against his/her power…
