Why they gotta do Ireland and Scotland dirty like that?
The got the whole half continent dirty. Except Belarus, they are proud of it.
Got to love the French calling Italian food overrated, when their international recognized dish consists of black coffee and a cigarette.
Danish pastry is not soggy. On the contrary, it’s a lot crispier than what the rest of Europe is eating.
Perhaps they’re thinking of the pastry called a danish, which is not Danish. We ourselves call it a Berliner, but I think it’s actually from Austria.
maybe it’s actually swedish but wienerbröd is kinda soggy, isn’t it?
UK not even being on the map xD
The French are just jealous of our portable usable bread, that isn’t 16 feet long, doesn’t go off 20 minutes after purchase, and can actually be used to make sandwiches.

Every now and then this picture or some variation of pops up and my country gets slapped with being rice country.
We cook and eat better than the spanish, french and italians put together. And we are not afraid of our spices.
🇵🇹
Completely valid criticism for hungary. I just put like a kilo of paprika on like 100 grams of chicken 💀
One day we’ll catch them on film enjoying a Greggs sausage roll and the charade will be over.
Why is the place with the best food labeled “famine”
I was gonna say they miss the wine and fancy cheeses, but now that I think about it the wine selection is actually fairly solid, and you don’t get much fancier than Pule.
That region includes some of the highest wine producing countries in the world
It’s the European equivalent of extreme poverty. But by world standards, they’re doing just fine lol.
As a Pole, I find this offensive. We’re more than just potato munchers.
We’re also potato drinkers.
You forgot about rotten cabbage that is close to our hearts. In all shapes and forms.
Is there anything a potato can’t do? 😍
please the french
They even dont recognise the potato as a seperate entity. They really just call them pomme de terre (ground apple) and job’s a goodun.
Yeah but that’s like asking a potato to colonize the moon. The space moon.
Ah but they’re not potatoes there… They’re ground apples (that’s the translation in case you’ve no French). Doesn’t count. Big pharma got in on the naming after a campaign by doctors who didn’t like them.
Taxes.
Talk to the English… They were very fond of taking potatoes for taxes in the 1800s (historically accurate truth is that the Irish grew other crops to pay the taxes and used potatoes for their own subsistence but it was an obvious dig that I had to get in for the giggles).
[Laughs in Inca]
Love how the UK isn’t even there
The even took out Ireland. What did Ireland do?
Something something potato joke that everyone’s heard a million times
“THE VAST ATLANTIC OCEAN.” Nothing to see here…
We are happy with everything we stole from other cultures thanks. Along with with a lot of carbs.
I wish I’d had shade like this all summer
that’s what brexit does to a mf
Brexit happened in 2016, the French knew what was up
dam i didnt even notice lmao u right
Nah, their “food” sucked well before that.
i meant it as in they exited physically and moved the island elsewhere
(credits to ZDF Heute-Show 2011-12-12)However, Ireland is gone too.

I mean the entire isle of Ireland is gone in the French cuisine map. The map in my reply depicts only the UK at a different position.
I actually realized the misunderstanding and deleted my comment, but I guess the deletion hasn’t echoed over to all federated instances yet!
kinda wish it was there but just “BUTTER CHICKEN”
Tikka chips
Idk they missed 4 good puns for their one there. The scottish one almost rights itself, just describe haggis.
And the Irish boiled potatoes, boiled meat and boiled cabbage are missing too.
You can do plenty more than just boil a potato
Like mashing or sticking it in a stew?
That was a good roast.
“map of Europe”
“Marie Antoinette” is probably the strangest food on that map. I had no idea about French meat preferences.
PS: I wonder where the Viennoiserie is from.
I like it how the map essentially says “we cannot find anything proper to complain about Italy.”
Or, you could look at it from the other end, everything is shit.
“We stole half our flavor profiles from them and refuse to admit it, so we pretend like anything we stole is actually just common knowledge.”
We improved them. One of Italy’s most famous dishes, carbonara pasta, has a French version that is way better.
the Korean version is even better.
I looked it up and it’s spicy carbonara. I should try this.
it is not like tomatoes are native italy
Not for nothin, we love to see a territorially intact Ukraine.
France is good for bread and wine. French food is basically Italian food without pasta. Lots of butter and salt with no competing flavors. Want something with your savory dish? Fuck you, pair it with a wine. Want spicy? Fuck you that’s not tradition!
French food is bad. It tastes fine but the ceremony and culture around it are toxic.
but the ceremony and culture around it are toxic.
That’s what makes it French.
I can’t even tell you what French food is… Nothing comes to mind as particularly French. I can imagine Italian, Greek, Spanish, German, etc but all I can come up with for French is baguettes and escargot.
They have frogs and snails and force-fed goose liver

“French food is really good.” they told me during months I spent traveling all around country over many years. “It’s just complicated and most people don’t know how to cook it.”
Me “So in the past two weeks I have tried 14 different places in 6 different cities and all 14 meals have been horrible. Okay…”
There’s a reason why a tire company publishing a list of recommended places to eat when traveling around France became so popular. Its not because the average place to get food was good.
Mexico: Stopping at a gas station, a little old lady hand rolling tortillas and cooking them on an open bbq. Her “Tacos?” Me nodding vigorously"Si, si, si" They were insanely delicious.
Yeah I can’t think of any French food that I’m like yeah this is good. Michlin stars? I to like the putting on sticky gold stars in grade school to make myself feel better? I literally have no memory that I can say that was something good that I tried.
I’ll have an Irish/English breakfast or fish and chips any day. German sourdough or bratwurst and pretzels or schnitzel. Sushi any day.
The irony is there’s a what used to be a gas station, and repair place as I had my car worked on there, that’s now considered one of the best Mexican places in town.
However French baguettes are so good the Italians had to copy it with their Ciabatta.
Hey! The ciabatta is totally different from a baguette!
Ciabatta’s crust is more thicc, the crumb has more holes and is more chewy while the baguette crust isn’t as thicc as ciabatta’s one and the crumb is more dense and soft
Baguette: Chewy on the inside, hard, crusty, and chewy on the outside. Gotta scrape the inside of your mouth and give your jaw muscles a workout. If your mouth and jaw isn’t sore after eating one, it’s no good.
Ciabatta: We like the chewy but the hard and crusty not so much. Let put a ton of olive oil on the outside to lessen the crusty, but keep the chewy. And being Italian, olive oil goes on most things anyways.
True, but I believe the baker who invented it did state that it was meant to compete or substitute a baguette, but Italian.
