Kendrick routinely donates to charities. He focuses on Compton and LA, but to paint it like he doesn’t donate to causes that serve the underprivileged isn’t quite accurate.

I think it works like this: If your friend makes this joke to you and a small group of friends, and you know they’re not racist, and just being silly, it’s okay. If you hear a stranger shout this in a crowd, it’s too risky to give them the benefit of the doubt. Because they might be a bad actor trying to drum up support with the wrong kind of people. You all feel like like-minded friends to me, but you’re really strangers, and so are the people who can hear what you say.
