The new MacBook Pro features a “PROLED XDR Display.” OLED displays illuminate individual pixels without a separate backlight, so the new model requires a different approach to lighting the logo.
Hopefully that means it can be turned off.
They should make the logo its own display. Give the user the ability to change the color, or run a “screen saver” effect on it.
This! Back when the black MacBook first came out, I wanted to find a translucent sticker of the old rainbow logo to stick over the Apple. Would have gone hard on that black case. If this were a screen, that would be easy. Could even put the original Isaac Newton logo on there!
The new MacBook Pro starts at $2,899 for the 14-inch model and $3,399 for the 16-inch model.
Dayum
Goes with the $2k phone.
Is it 60hz?
Adaptive ProMotion from 10Hz to 120Hz.
Now make it upside down.
Why?
So I can be like Carrie Bradshaw!

(The old Powerbook G3s used to have their logos upside down.)
Ah, a man of culture
In public, I was embarrassed to have the illuminated logo on my old Apple laptop. I was relieved when it was retired.
You should try not to care what people think of you and just enjoy the things you want to.
Imagine you’re in a café, and someone has an illuminated Nike logo pointed away from themselves, but towards everyone else - because they like Nike. That is next-level consumerism and inherently embarrassing.
- Don’t buy items you’re too embarrassed to be seen using
- Masking tape, duct tape, stickers, an opaque case - you can cover it up
I, too, can state the obvious. You’re missing the point.
But what if you enjoy understated design
