The iconic glowing rear Apple logo is returning to the MacBook Pro with the latest model, Apple today announced. Apple removed the illuminated logo from the MacBook Pro with its 2016 redesign, replacing it with a polished, non-illuminated version. Its return restores one of the laptop's most recognizable design features after a decade. We're glowing with excitement over the new MacBook Pro. You've gotta touch it to believe it.

The new ‌MacBook Pro‌ features a “PROLED XDR Display.” OLED displays illuminate individual pixels without a separate backlight, so the new model requires a different approach to lighting the logo.

Hopefully that means it can be turned off.
