I would hope she also loses her driver’s license. Someone who drives like that should never drive again.
A villager? Does she work as an NPC in a video game? What kind of description is that?
I can’t help but think of Minecraft whenever I see the word villager.
Dadadada Villager News:
Villager sentenced to 90 days in iron golem farm for tormenting chicken jockeys with their horse.
But also she needs her license revoked. 90 days and she’s going back to being crazy with her Mercedes. I’ve had to deal with stupid/aggressive drivers even when I was biking as a child and it’s scary.I was thinking Age of Empires.
Villager sentenced to building a forward castle without military protection.
Im glad she was charged but nowhere near what it should’ve been for attempted murder. Fuck the wording. I’m fed up of this language for drivers.
“Villager” - a true local so we should feel for her.
“tormenting” - nothing serious like their lives were in danger, just a bit of bullying?!?
“aimed her speeding Mercedes” - the car was responsible obviously, not her who was just trying to adjust the aim of it without being able to control the speed?
“Vernon was at the wheel of her white Mercedes convertible” - again, the car was responsible, she was just at the wheel and therefore not responsible.
“Enountered” - the worst part in my mind. Imagine you’re driving and shudder to think you might “encounter” other cars, pedestrians, cyclists, road signage, peoples houses, a stream / lake / river, a field, a tree, hedges, (I could carry on a long list). Obviously none of this could ever have entered her mind because she just came across them.
“at a seemingly high rate of speed in the opposite direction.” - can’t even begin to try to understand this statement.
“Approaching at a high rate of speed” - she didn’t quite get to a “high rate of speed” so yeah, she’s fine right?
“Accelerate backward toward the pair” - again, can’t understand how this would be normal!
This person was operating a machine that could easily kill, under a driving licence, and made several active changes to endanger the life of other people (who could’ve been walking, cycling or in another car - that bit doesn’t matter!).
The sentence and repercussions should be a lot more but also fuck the wording of the report and spread this message that she was clearly trying to attempt fucking murder!
You are stretching pretty far to make your well-warn schtick hit some of these points. Maybe give it a break for a while, not everything is a nail.
You’re not wrong. It’s The Villages, Florida. Just outside Orlando, age-restricted, hard core Trumpland (or was before Covid). It’s where Republican leaders go for events when they don’t want to be heckled. Lots of golf carts, when they’re not running down bicyclists in actual cars.
At least 80% of homes must have a resident aged 55 or older, and persons under 19 may not reside permanently, except in designated family subdivisions
Take that as you will, but it has been called a little Disney World for retirees, and that’s one of the nicer names. The epicenter of brittle entitlement, IMO. I am soooo not surprised by the overly gentle language used by the local fishwrapper to describe menacing with a vehicle, reckless endangerment, and attempted murder by a probably drunk woman who tried three separate times on the same occasion to run over the cyclists with her car.
The first one doesn’t really apply. This is a local source for an area that calls itself “The Villages”, so it’s like a Tennessee headline saying “Bristolian Sentanced…”
Most of the others are reasonable statements of fact that you are twisting in your commentary. Your second to last quote says she was moving at high speed, but you say it is minimizing her actions. The last quote describes an extremely abnormal action and presents it as such, but your commentary again acts as if there is some minimizing framing that doesn’t exist.
The punishment is far too light, but that has nothing to do with your criticism. The article is nothing more than a summary of court filings stated as fact since she did not dispute them.
“Tormenting” = she tried to hit them with her car multiple times.
Merriem webster includes
the infliction of torture (as by rack or wheel.
in the definition of torment. I really don’t understand how so many people in this thread think that this word usage is minimisation.
The attempted murder aspect of the incident outweighing the “torment” aspect in people’s minds, perhaps?
Murder is the new annoying.
But only if you do it in a car.
It sounds like she tried to come close hitting them multiple times. Thus tormenting them.
Tried to come close hitting them = trying to run them over with a car, a multiple ton killing machine that can 100% end the life of anyone you run over. But we just do a little tormenting, for good measure.
When an officer showed up at Vernon’s house and tried to place her in handcuffs, she tried to flee inside. The officer attempted to grab her hand, but she hit a wall and fell to the ground. She continued to pull away from the officer. She then told him she needed to use the restroom and “soiled her pants.”
She shit herself getting arrested, lol
But, why were the cyclists in her Mercedes? And how did they get on the bikes in the vehicle?
Very carefully.
Holy shit highly recommend reading this article, what a ride
whoever FOIA’s that bodycam first is going to make a mint.
Florida(wo)man. Even wealth doesn’t protect you from being absolutely batshit when you live in Florida.
Thank you, Sunshine laws.
She looks exactly how you would imagine.
