The plan also calls for state lawmakers to pass a proposed “Drugged Driving Bill,” which would allow prosecutors to charge drivers using drugs that impair driving.

    This isn’t already a thing?

It further called for lawmakers to pass legislation allowing the seizure of license plates from reckless drivers and to establish higher penalties for repeat offenders.

Too lenient IMO and it’s a start.

It’s likely that only alcohol counts in existing legislation.

If they include caffeine (or sleep deprivation!) then that’s when the public should really be worried! Lol

It is, but this would call it out and give specific penalties. Driving impaired under any circumstances is already illegal. I recall a story where someone took Kava Kava and got a DUI over it.

prosecuting and sentencing are two different things. you can be for consequences and also be in favour of rehabilitation over incarceration

I assume this (saying prosecuting “drug users” is racist) comes from prosecutors usung tests that show presence of non-intoxicating substances (particularly THCA) as evidence of drug use.
