It’s the only country I’ve ever traveled to where it felt like everyone was trying to upsell you on every little thing. See those bread sticks in the center of the table? Don’t touch them, don’t even fucking glance at them, or you’ll get charged an arm and a leg in Euros. Ask for water but you wanted still and not sparkling? Fuck you son, that’s another charge you didn’t think about.

One place I went to, I shit you not, had the toilet seat and toilet paper chained to a weight you had to carry from the front of the shop to the upstairs toilet after making a purchase.

    The food was just ok.

Where the hell did you go in Italy? All the food I got was super cheap. Sounds like you ate at the equivalent of a southern USA gas station

The seat chained to a weight was in Venice. TBF they did have an issue with people stealing their toilet paper…but the seat?

I will say, there was a little spot in Florence where we saw one of the workers run out the back to a nearby shop to grab an ingredient they’d just run out of. That was pretty cool of them.
