this is hilarious actually. where do the posts go? they just seem to disappear. also imagine how much damage that car is gonna take. would be real funny if one of these posts was randomly steel instead of rubber lol.

23rd Street, Santa Monica. August 9, 2026, a driver in a green truck runs over bollards in the protected bike lane. On August 19, Councilmember Dan Hall reports that the Santa Monica Police Department “has identified the vehicle and owner. They have had the vehicle towed for expired registration and are following up with the owner on the vandalism of public property.” @electdanhal Santa Monica has built 119 of the 187 miles of bikeway in its Bike Action Plan. Roughly five of those miles are protected. The half-mile on 23rd Street is protected by plastic barriers called “armadillos” while other areas, such as 17th Street are protected by concrete curbs.

I live near enough to know the layout and while it’s mostly just colored line, the streets are still usually bike friendly, assuming you don’t see this nonsense.

What SM did was actually reduce parking to the point that it forced biking or bussing (and made permits for remaining spots, lol). Driving remains is almost all single lane torture with a 25 mph limit, single because when I was a kid it was two lanes and they decided they wanted a dedicated bike lane (specifically thinking Broadway but probably others).

SM is a small place, too. A ton of those miles are in residential areas with little room for expansion.

They should lose their car and license, and be made to repair all the damage they did. Maybe some community service, too.

My guess is those pop back up when knocked over. Hard to see in the video if they are standing back up after he hits them but i think they do. I agree he should loose his license and be charged with reckless driving.

They’re designed to be knockable and pop back up to accommodate street sweepers and energy vehicles, but not assholes going full speed

Having seen people drive over these, they are designed to flop around for this very reason, but usually don’t stand up to anything faster than walking speed unless they’re brand new.

So I’m sure quite a few didn’t pop back up.

Either way, I’d make them pay for the entire row and use the money to make a more permanent barrier (that’ll never happen in the US)

uhh rubber does bend normally, yes, but not if you hit it at that speed. the rubber has no time to respond properly, and instead of bending, it tears apart, i think. so no, i don’t think these will stand up again.

Rebuild every single one of those by hand, with concrete and rebar. Lose license permanently . Have to speak every year at high schools about anger management, inadequacy and insecurity, for life.

he should be finded for every single of those public infrastructure things he hit for their full replacement value outside of whatever the standard ticket and fine is.

      Not good enough:

      1. Loss of drivers license permanently
      2. Vehicle impounded and cubed
      3. Fined the price to change those from useless plastic floppy bits to the concrete and steel reinforced rails needed to keep people safe from cars.

You have 30 minutes to move your car.
          You have 10 minutes.
          Your car has been impounded.
Your car has been crushed into a cube.
You have 30 minutes to move your cube.

Really wish some of these came with really harsh punishments like you are suggesting. This is an absolute psychopath who will eventually hurt someone.

Excuse me, as someone with a small package I would never do this.

They’ve got “pathetic whiny bitch energy” though. Probably complains about woke DEI antifa bike lanes to other dudes who take low angle photos in their trucks with oakleys on.

Hey now, I like my Oakley’s. They’re the only ones that fit my face without gaps.

Tbf tho I don’t post videos of me bitching about falling behind people without privilege.
