The thing that strikes me as kinda crazy is how these researchers identify lift capacity not increasing as the problem to solve rather than obesity in people. More so since they go on about dignity, comfort and safety. Yeah! Yeah… Maybe solve issues instead of treating symptoms?
We can build lifts that are bigger and that support more weight but then people will just get even more obese and the cycle continues. So why not reduce obesity? It’s also probably way cheaper to reduce obesity (and has health benefits) than it is to rebuild every god damn lift to support more weight and have more floor space.
Unless your plan involves snapping your fingers and people magically lose weight instantly, then changes like these are going to be necessary regardless.
You’re not going to achieve the complete eradication of obesity in a short enough time, even if society actually gave it a good try (which is unlikely).
Yeah, I hate to say it, but this sounded like the most American take ever, coming from an American. And that is not meant in any positive way at all, I’m afraid.
Companies sneak more calories into their foods to make up for the lack of nutrients, like protein and fiber. Thus, increasing the weight of the populous. There’s no fixing it really. Obese people will eventually die off, and those left will be, from our own history, smaller in height and girth.
How is this dumb? He’s right. In US foods you can almost always find Corn Syrup. There is a reason Europeans are generally more healthy; it’s because we have stricter regulations and don’t allow corpos to put basically anything into food.

You need to treat the symptoms until you solve the issue. Also, it’s not the lift manufacturers’ issue to solve.

I think they call that Ozempic.

The question is: How does one fix obesity?

Congrats, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve read today
Which part?
