Do you trust your government to handle your ID data safely and in a way that law enforcement etc. can’t access without proper cause? This is definitely going to get used to do police raids and years-long device seizures on people who call dick politicians dicks - the process is the punishment.

If you actually want to protect children, force operating system manufacturers or home internet hardware manufacturers to implement child filters that work reliably.

This kind of thing was a huge problem when Germany tried to ban the NPD (a neo-nazi party) in the 2010s. Too many police/secret service infiltrators in way too high positions. In the end, they failed to ban the party.

Did you read the article? The article completely disagrees with the title - world of difference between “abandoned” and “not operational yet”.

That title isn’t just click-bait, it’s straight-up misinformation. Even the article itself says that TWISTER and ERNST weren’t abandoned, they just aren’t operational yet (and the one that was actually abandoned just didn’t work, if the other commenter is to be believed).

As a German, many of my countrymen and -women are rather embarassing.

Also on the minus, now everyone has to provide ID in some way to legally access social media.
