I’m not trying to criticize the multi-party systems or the good efforts to decouple from the US, but you guys are deluding yourselves if you think that will save you. None of it is going to matter when every single EU member has a MAGA analogue in power.
We should not compare ourselves to less free places, but to freer places. And if there are no freer places, to strive for freer ideals (without tolerance for bigots).
