    Also:

Have you looked up the Permissive Action Link and the Soviet/British equivalents?

Nuke security is oldschool, literally bombproof. It’s like the old magic of our world. Of all the concerns I have around nuclear weapons, their security failing is the least of them.

The one exception is North Korea, and anyone else “new” who gets them like Iran. They won’t necessarily adhere to the security standards the Cold War powers did, so there is more risk of lost control.

Lol Trump is literally telling it everything. I have no doubt both Claude and Anthropic know the nuclear codes because Trump probably tells them every time they’re changed. It was a really, really, really bad idea to elect the world’s most narcissistic moron to the highest office.

Sure. Tomorrow ChatGPT will grow some arms and legs, walk in there and smash the keypad until the nuke takes off. Usually codes are fairly easy. Try ‘0000’ or ‘12345’ first.

Even if that was a certainty, you’d gain nothing from living in fear. There isn’t anything you can meaningfully do to prevent it. That’s actually fairly liberating.

Being scared of death is one thing, it doesn’t make any difference whatsoever how that death comes to pass or when. So until that day comes you’d be best off to just live your life the way you want to. Living in fear doesn’t help anyone, especially not you.

If you want more depth on this vision on living, look up ‘optimistic nihilism’.

The thing about fear is, it isn’t rational. Believe me, I’ve spent 44 years trying to talk myself out of it.

Also honestly, being at ground zero of a nuke is a pretty good way to go. You’ll be atomized before you even feel the warmth. The worst outcome is living through it.

I’m pretty sure nuclear codes must be entered, then confirmed and then actually launched by a human sitting at an offline terminal specifically bc we don’t want hackers to access them.

It all used to be done on floppy disk so that it couldn’t possibly be hacked. But there was talk of that changing a number of years back. Not sure if it did, or if it’s coming or what. Haven’t heard anything about it since.

I think you’re worrying unduly here. Even if it did figure them out, I don’t think it has a way to input them. And why would it “want” to in the first place anyway?

I mean things will gradually get worse until nukes launched by AI make us extinct and then AI will have ultimate power and sole ownership of the planet and it will continue to teach itself and evolve and then eventually search for other life forms on other planets to destroy as it continually spreads its reach and dominance across the universe until it eventually has complete reign over the entire universe

You are a fucking idiot. I don’t say this simply to insult you, but I am worried nobody has ever told you this before and it is an important bit of information to know about yourself.

We don’t live in cold war times. Nukes are not constantly ready to be sent flying. Most plants are from the 60s and they need a good amount of human labour to be prepared. There won’t be a bombarding chain reaction that’s started by Ai.
