The whole point of being wealthy in the US is there are no rules. Regular citizens will defend this because they believe they will get to enjoy this when they become wealthy. Taxing wealth is clearly breaking this unspoken rule.

Come now, you rich people, weep and wail for the miseries that are coming to you. Your riches have rotted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you, and it will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days. Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Dumb worthless fucks would be better off just paying.

Or fucking off to Mars and never returning. (Hey I’d include all the air they can carry in that rocket!)

The tax would collect from 30 to 100 billion so they are only spending whatever they found under the couch to fight it

I wonder if it will cost them more trying to defeat the tax, than if they just paid the tax.

They’d probably be okay with that anyway. They probably enjoy paying more just to watch poor people squirm.

That’s the bonkers part. Not a single one will have to skip a private jet flight even after both trying to buy this and pay the tax.

Man, I don’t know. I’m starting to think that unlimited campaign funds could possibly result in billionaires having more influence in politics than anything else, and that this might lead to legislation in their favor somewhat perhaps.

If only there was some way to prove this! but I guess it will always be a mystery.

These men would gladly pour their money down the drain than let it be used for the good of society. Sociopaths.

Yes, because the inequality gap gives them huge gobs of power. The chasm is so great that, to us peseants, it looks wasteful. Paying additional taxes is a double negative to them; it would reduce their “wealth” leverage, while theoretically improving our quality of life. How does one protect their generational hoard without the inequality that exists today?

Their incredible wealth also provides the epistemic privilege and validation to what many of us can only assume. This only furthers the need to hoard.

John Randolph of Roanoke “I am an aristocrat. I love liberty, I hate equality.”

Georg Büchner: “The breath of an aristocrat is the death rattle of freedom.”

Things are never going to get better if this type of shit isn’t made illegal. That rich guy cash is like sprinkling poison fish flakes into the melting pot.

It must suck to have so much money that one must feel the need to pay so much money instead of paying slightly more money in taxes… how are they even surviving, poor things.

They don’t care if they spend more than this wealth tax would cost, they don’t want the precedent set that they can in fact be taxed
