Republican California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton is targeting Spanish-speaking voters with an AI-generated ad that shows a caricature of a trans girl playing soccer against high school girls. The ad even features an AI-generated version of his Democratic opponent, Xavier Becerra, taking a policy position that he does not take in real life.
The ad is raising questions about how AI is used both to create problems that don’t exist – the ad used generative AI to portray the trans girl as a much older man pushing cis girls around in a high school soccer game, which doesn’t happen in real life – and to put words in political opponents’ mouths.
I can’t even fathom a reality in which the GOP stopped raping people and waging culture wars and started actually governing.
What if I told you culture wars is how they govern?

This should be considered fraud. Making claims about a political opponent that are a reach is whatever, that’s politics. But making realistic footage of your opponent saying something they never said is just beyond the pale.
They probably can sue for this. The problem is more that people will see this and not the retraction, which could potentially come after the election if they stall the case. They don’t care if its legal, they care about influencing voters enough right before election day

The most bizarre thing to me is statistically trans athletes perform much worse in sports than before. The most basic logic completely derails this bullshit but conservatives can’t even process that.
My favorite one of those, is the woman who ran a marathon and found out a trans woman finished before her, and had a absolute shitfit meltdown in the news media, making it sound like she would have taken first place if that damned trans woman hadnt stolen it with her transness… except they werent in first place. they werent even in the top 100. they finished around like 1200-1500. a thousand other women beat her, but she lost her fuckin mind because a trans woman finished one position ahead of her.
