When you look at some Nobel Peace Prize winners, Shrump potentially getting one isn’t so bizarre.

Abiy Ahmed - Ethiopia’s PM since 2018 - got a Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for making peace with Eritrea, and avoiding a potentially devastating war.

Now, same guy in 2026 says it was a mistake, claims ownership over Eritrea’s biggest harbor, and is about to order the army to invade, which risks sparking a continental conflict, with very likely global consequences.

You could list many similar examples, as well as many considerably more reasonable ones. It’s a 50/50 with these prizes. Honestly it wouldn’t be so shocking if the orange piece of shit managed to receive one.

You act like dynamite wasn’t one of mankinds great inventions, like unironically the dude deserves far more credit than he is often times given in the modern era. Everything from bumfuck highways to the great canal works of the 19th and 20th centuries would’ve been borderline impossible without dynamite.

Not my fault the folks who came up with the prize shoved peace into the name, just noting that the invention of dynamite is 100 percent of great enough importance to earn a price being named after the inventor. Personally I think we should name each fields prize after a notable and respected person within the field for example Curie prize of nuclear physics, Sagan prize of astronomy, Darwin prize of biology, Tolkien prize of English literature et cetera. Fuck you Fritz Haber, you don’t get a prize you may have fed more than have ever died since civilization but mustard gas is horrifying get fucked.

That’s actually a good idea! I think we should name oilsands tailings ponds after the politicians who allowed them to happen.

Bit like saying airlines are violent because the first passenger planes were based on military bombers.

That analogy is backwards, because dynamite was developed for civilian use and then found military application, while big planes were developed to drop more bombs and then found use carrying people.

I’m not talking about violence against people. I’m talking about the nature of violence. The sun is violent, but it gives life. Explosions are violent, even if nothing is injured or killed.

              Anyways, cheers.

in 2019 for making peace with Eritrea, and avoiding a potentially devastating war. Years later changed this stance

      Vs

An orange moron who surprised attacked a nation he was in negotiations with, initiating a war this year.

Him getting a peace prize this year, for the above, threatening to invade allies and blowing up random boats in international waters would rate pretty bizarre to me, personally.

Just wait until they swoop in with helicopters and grab the deciders and force them to administer the prize. That is going to happen, unless we stop these traitorous cunts.

If your big problem with the peace prize is that people can change and the Nobel committee can’t see the future, then I wish my problems were as big as yours.

The Nobel Committee on the peace prize is a shit show, that no one that follows the news respects.

Are you saying he had even better examples with the very same person he used to defend his position about the Nobel Committe and didn’t?

What? The Nobel Committee is a fucking joke, and has been forever, and only sheep place any value in these politicians and rich people voting on the “peace prize.”

Fuck the Nobel Committee, they are garbage.

And while that all may help true, someone doing non-peace-promoting activities after they got the Peace Prize is just about the worst example you can use to defend that position.

How could that be true? People making war after getting the prize are cases in point, and the nobel committee has to answer it, or continue to have 0 credibility and only be respected by people that are ignorant or bad.

I think Hitler got one. But a bunch of others too.

The Nobel Committee has 0 credibility already, and even they won’t give it to dementor in chief here.

Hitler got Time person of the year, which is supposedly based on impact, not really a value judgement on the person’s character.

But yeah they gave a prize to Kissinger and Arafat, that alone should be completely disqualifying.

Thanks for the correction I knew that was wrong after I posted it, the guy that pioneered lobotomy for the people did get one though.

There are a lot of bad examples, and I’ve yet to hear the committee recognize a mistake and apologize and explain how they will do better. Which is disqualifying.

The Nobel Committee has 0 credibility. I shit on every one of their nominees.
