My Lords, we know that the 18 to 25 year-olds have many of the same complex problems as the under-18s and, as the Minister has said, they need similar holistic wraparound care, although that is not necessarily yet in place. However, Dr Levy’s review had a narrower remit than mine, focused on quality improvement rather than the model of care, so as a next step would the Minister agree to ask departmental and NHSE colleagues to convene a group, which should include independent experts, representatives of professional groups and representatives of the new children’s and young people’s services as well as service users, to consider how we best understand and, importantly, improve clinical outcomes for this group of young adults?

I’m operating off of the model here which I picked up around ten years ago that the term “sex” refers to your body’s default position, male/female at birth. While gender is what’s in the mind. So a trans woman would have the gender of female but the sex of male. If my terminology is incorrect, you are free to correct me. However, you are acting completely hostile and horrible towards me, randomly bringing immigration and race into this. I do have patience, but you constantly cussing me out here is abusing that affects how seriously I take your position. I can’t even remember what we’re even talking about anymore without going back quite a bit because of how you’re de-railing this conversation.
The human nature of many is to act in a reactionary way to being attacked, to dig heels in and be defensive. Maybe I am surrounded by reactionaries, or maybe you are the reactionary. I’m not sure. But it seems like I have done something despicably evil by trying to get out of what could be an echo chamber and discuss this topic with people outside of it. Over time on Lemmy I have tried to become more understanding of the transgender cause, and there are many excellent people on here who have caused me to rethink this topic and changed my position on it. Even someone else on here got me to rethink my previous age bracket of 18 and lower it to 16. I can’t really take scientific positions, but I do have a model which I am trying to build that’ll reason (for example, if puberty blockers truly don’t cause long term effects in most cases, then I don’t see the issue in using them on children).
Thankfully, I like to see the best in people and groups, and I like to think that you’re just a minority in the community of pro trans people, or even possibly having a bad day. So I won’t tar the whole group with a whole brush. But other people I know wouldn’t even give you the time of day to discuss the matter, nevermind put up with your toxicity.
Reconsidering gatekeeping HRT to 16 instead of 18 is not the noble personal growth you think it is, nor is it what the point of this discussion was about and as for puberty blockers, yes there is growing evidence that the longer puberty is delayed the more there can be permanent negative consequences. It was yet another example of you refusing to actually listen to anyone critical of you and instead debate your way around the fact that restricting gender affirming care until after someone has gone through puberty at all is bad. Puberty does not start at a specific age and almost always well before 16.
The thread I mentioned about immigrants is relevant because it is another example of you being a reactionary debate pervert that wastes people’s time with sophistry and pedantry. If you had given any impression that you were actually listening to the trans people in this thread and not just being a wanker I would not have been hostile to you. But the fact I have seen you be this way before didn’t give me much hope.
