My Lords, we know that the 18 to 25 year-olds have many of the same complex problems as the under-18s and, as the Minister has said, they need similar holistic wraparound care, although that is not necessarily yet in place. However, Dr Levy’s review had a narrower remit than mine, focused on quality improvement rather than the model of care, so as a next step would the Minister agree to ask departmental and NHSE colleagues to convene a group, which should include independent experts, representatives of professional groups and representatives of the new children’s and young people’s services as well as service users, to consider how we best understand and, importantly, improve clinical outcomes for this group of young adults?

It’s the age we’ve decided that someone can make life changing decisions at. A medical professional’s approval is standard and routine for procedures that’s beyond getting paracetamol.

Being forced to go through the wrong puberty is also life-changing. There is no course of action that is free of permanent consequences here. Kids who request to go on hormones should get hormones, as soon as they hit puberty. The odds they will not regret it are enormously higher than the odds they will. The only reason you think one of these options, the potentially life-saving one, should be flat-out illegal and one, the potentially fatal one, should be mandatory is transphobia, as the one you want to happen automatically in 100% of all cases only harms trans kids.

        What about harming cis kids?

And why hormones and not puberty blockers? Aren’t hormones more irreversible than the purported affect of puberty blockers?

It’s the age we’ve decided that someone can make life changing decisions at.

Ok, firstly discarding Gillick competence (which is legally a warzone around gender transition right now but had previously allowed for gender affirming care for under-16s) the age that a child is allowed to make a decision on their own healthcare in the UK is 16 not 18, unless you see trans people as inherently less capable than cis, I don’t see why you’d push the age back further specifically for gender affirming care.

But more importantly, going through the wrong puberty isn’t life changing?

If it’s 16, then fair enough

But more importantly, going through the wrong puberty isn’t life changing?

I believe whether or not the term “wrong” to describe puberty in this instance is the subject of debate, both medical and philosophical. I have even heard some claims that puberty can fix gender dysphoria (although I don’t know how scientific this is, so don’t quote me)

If the NHS have decided not to give puberty blockers, well they have people making these decisions who are far more educated than me in this area and probably moreso than you, so I trust their judgement.

Because you are an idiot who doesn’t listen to people who actually understand the subject.

The problem is that the decision to prevent the use of puberty blockers isn’t based on the decisions of medical experts but rather political groups more determined to erase trans people.

The Cass review, for example has been heavily criticised for its methodological flaws.

As someone who is both trans and has experience working in a related field of medicine it has been heartbreaking to see the NHS warped so cruelly by bigots and their agenda.

I have even heard some claims that puberty can fix gender dysphoria (although I don’t know how scientific this is, so don’t quote me).

It certainly didn’t fix it for me, I spent much of my teenage years trying to end my own life largely because of my gender dysphoria.

I hope you’re doing better now. I hear other people claim that about the pro-trans side. But I do believe politics should be kept out of medicine.

All the pro-trans side ever want in this debate is better medical outcomes for trans people. If that’s bringing politics to medicine then idk what the fuck apolitical medicine is.

is it based on a political presupposition or nah

I have heard people claim it’s possible to be trans without gender dysphoria. Really muddies the waters over what the aim is. I just want people with gender dysphoria to have it eased/cured (only if actually possible) and have a more comfortable life where they aren’t suffering. If someone learns to accept their biological sex, or if they medically transition to achieve this, either way, it’s a win. Different people likely have different needs. But hey, I’ll leave that to the medical professionals. The more we understand gender dysphoria and how to treat it, the better.

Yes, but these trans people will not go to the NHS to request gender affirming care. How can you be so consistently WRONG on literally everything?

You are correct that gender dysphoria is not necessarily something a trans person has. Prior to the current political sabotage of the gender service, the role of the NHS was to determine what gender affirming care was necessary. A lot of the anti-trans push has been to take as many of these treatments off the board as possible.

Last month the Welsh Gender Service was pressured into cancelling all gender affirming surgeries that had been booked, no consultation, just a blanket call from above that involved no medical experts in the consideration. They did this on the demands of a single Member of Senedd.

They also went on a rant about immigrants like a month ago. I dont even think they’re actually a committed fascist or anything just a Brit whose brain has been absolutely cooked by TERF Island fascist media.

Hopefully they are young enough to grow out of it and learn. Doubtful though.

Your country along with the US carrying the imperial torch after them are the two biggest responsible entities that created the conditions for migration as a means to survive. You are a reactionary with transphobic brainworms who refuses to listen to people who are more kind to you than deserved.

Neither you nor any other westerner has any right whatsoever to determine who is allowed to travel anywhere on earth after colonizing over half the planet and driving the earth to a mass extinction event.

“I have no problem with legal immigrants”

Of course you dont because you dont see colonized people as human and legal immigrant is a heavily racialized notion to begin with in western countries.

                This is what you said:

Except there’s not one person crossing in a small boat who is a good person. They are deliberately paying people trafficking gangs to take them over from France. At best, they are just trying to game the immigration system and skip the queue to do it the “easy way” instead of playing by the rules. At worst, they are coming over to take advantage of us and maybe even commit crimes. The good immigrants, such as people who want to contribute as skilled workers and be part of our society come in the legal route. If the legal route doesn’t let them, then they simply stay put or go somewhere else that will accept them. Migrants are definitely, definitely not an inherently bad thing. Asylum seekers even (I believe the majority of them are generally people who have come here legally, circumstances have changed and uh oh, they unfortunately cannot return home) aren’t a bad thing. But these “channel-hoppers” are definitely not good people. Even the legal migrants hate them and people trying to move here legitimately hate them because they’re having to work hard to earn a position here, while they’re gaming the system. People who want to game the system to get here definitely shouldn’t be welcome here. The channel-hoppers aren’t going to speak out for us, the reason they’re here is because they committed a selfish act.

I retract what I said it had been a while since I saw it.

                Fuck of Nazi scum.
