My Lords, we know that the 18 to 25 year-olds have many of the same complex problems as the under-18s and, as the Minister has said, they need similar holistic wraparound care, although that is not necessarily yet in place. However, Dr Levy’s review had a narrower remit than mine, focused on quality improvement rather than the model of care, so as a next step would the Minister agree to ask departmental and NHSE colleagues to convene a group, which should include independent experts, representatives of professional groups and representatives of the new children’s and young people’s services as well as service users, to consider how we best understand and, importantly, improve clinical outcomes for this group of young adults?

I hope you’re doing better now. I hear other people claim that about the pro-trans side. But I do believe politics should be kept out of medicine.

All the pro-trans side ever want in this debate is better medical outcomes for trans people. If that’s bringing politics to medicine then idk what the fuck apolitical medicine is.

is it based on a political presupposition or nah

I have heard people claim it’s possible to be trans without gender dysphoria. Really muddies the waters over what the aim is. I just want people with gender dysphoria to have it eased/cured (only if actually possible) and have a more comfortable life where they aren’t suffering. If someone learns to accept their biological sex, or if they medically transition to achieve this, either way, it’s a win. Different people likely have different needs. But hey, I’ll leave that to the medical professionals. The more we understand gender dysphoria and how to treat it, the better.

Yes, but these trans people will not go to the NHS to request gender affirming care. How can you be so consistently WRONG on literally everything?

I didn’t state that they do. Hexbear people need to stop trying to read minds and go back to badposting. It’s what they’re good at.

I never claimed to be talking for the transgender community. I was being transparent with my sources. Why is it impossible to have a respectful conversation about this subject?

You are not respectful. That’s impossible when you take the side of denying trans people basic human rights. Being polite while advocating to bully kids to suicide is not respectful. I will just block your stupid nazi ass. Deaht to the UK, death to the British Crown.

You are correct that gender dysphoria is not necessarily something a trans person has. Prior to the current political sabotage of the gender service, the role of the NHS was to determine what gender affirming care was necessary. A lot of the anti-trans push has been to take as many of these treatments off the board as possible.

Last month the Welsh Gender Service was pressured into cancelling all gender affirming surgeries that had been booked, no consultation, just a blanket call from above that involved no medical experts in the consideration. They did this on the demands of a single Member of Senedd.

I worry that too much of a focus on what is or isn’t necessary for someone to be a trans person, verges a little on the edge of transmedicalism. There’s a broad array of trans experiences and one isn’t any more valid than another.

If you are genuinely interested in reading more into transgender identities, I could link you towards some basic materials.

What’s transmedicalism? And what are the opposing viewpoints and why?

I enjoy the human aspect of discussions quite a bit. I like getting to understand my fellow human and their struggles

Transmedicalism is the idea that the only trans identities that are valid are those that link directly to a formal diagnosis of gender dysphoria and that those identities should also only be respected if the trans person in question is actively undergoing some form of gender affirming care.

Due to its exclusionary nature and pathologising of trans people as a disease to be treated, its largely viewed as a problematic and outdated idea of gender identity amongst the larger trans community (although it does have its defenders) but it remains entrenched within discourse around gender identity in the UK because so much of the legal/social component of transition has been gatekept behind medical transition. For example, the changing of gender markers on legal documents.
