There’s no reason whatsoever for the EU to engage in open war with Russia.

81·5 days agoThere’s always room for reasonable disagreement when the issue in question is a word whose definition contains an element of intent and is therefore unfalsifiable.
This sounds to me that you would rather discuss semantics, than spend five minutes trying to actually falsify the term “genocide” when applied to Palestine [0] [1] [2]
These links alone are enough to prove intent from the defence ministry.

Anyway, I cannot take an “expat newspaper” seriously. We’ve lived through worse times than this. We had a major party involved in a kickback scheme, including their leader at the time (“M. Rajoy”, anyone?) like 15 years ago. In the early 2000s, the largest telecom company in Spain was sold for pennies by a close friend of the prime minister.
Because long term policies require short term patches, so problems don’t get out of hand too early.
Policing crime and implementing mechanisms so people don’t need to resort to it in the long term, are complementary, but without the former, chances of the latter to work are slim.
From your point of view, it’s fine to let nazis win now as long as we set out to fix the root cause later, which is naive at several levels, most importantly because if they find their way to office, they will fight any policy that could make them irrelevant. Even more, since they are purely reactionary parties with no real policies, they are incentivized to manufacture more enemies and false issues. And if you don’t believe me, look at pretty much any reactionary cabinet in the world from the past 20 years, from the US to Russia to Hungary.
That’s… not at all equivalent.
That’s like saying that since crime is mostly a symptom of a systemic issue, we shouldn’t prosecute it.
I don’t know where you live, but I can assure you that parents are generally more concerned about traffic than pedophiles.
