Technology@lemmy.world•Ubisoft Fires Team Lead For Criticising Stupid Return-To-Office MandateEnglish
25·13 hours agoFor things before 2023, there was sexual harassment (multiple) bullying and hostile workplace and their excitement over NFT. They had a boys club and made it a really toxic atmosphere, where the CCO literally said “Women don’t sell”.

5·13 hours agoThe best way from my perspective is to show them.
At tech events and meetups, I’m showing them Linux.
When my friends come over, I show them my self hosted solutions on a Linux.
At work, where we use Macs, we talk about open-source, including Linux.

I hosted a pixelfed server for my city and it cost a few hundred bucks out of my own pocket. It was a test run so I can push my city to move their social media to open-source.
But the constant need to apply spam protection and abuse from visitors, not to mention abuse from users like copyright shit and even CSAM. My expensive side project became a full time job.

4·7 days agoWhat does age verification mean for VPNs?
Because if I’m using a VPN using a UK server and I get any issues, I can switch to Spain, or Italy, or Zimbabwe or whatever. Is that not the case?

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it
1·14 days agoThe Internet calling it MicroSlop is probably getting to him.
From tech bloggers calling them out in adding AI to everything including Notepad, to journalists raising eyebrows to their confusion why other companies aren’t shoving AI into everything, to this:

America creates the blueprint. As they say, we are #1 (at speedrunning towards a cyberpunk dystopia)
