  • Save you a click: AIPAC-backed establishment Dem beats out DSA challenger, and will be running against a Republican. A bad day for normal people across the country.

Moskowitz, one of the most prominent Jewish Democrats in the House of Representatives, will face Republican … Scott Singer Nov. 3 for the right to represent a district whose boundaries were recently redrawn by Florida legislators to favor the GOP.

… The two-term incumbent [Moskowitz] was backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), while Oliver was endorsed by far-left streamer Hasan Piker and former Bronx and Westchester Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY).

Moskowitz has voted in favor of US aid to Israel and condemned members of his party who refer to Israel’s war following Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Jewish state as a “genocide.” He declined to debate Larkin, telling a local radio station last month: “I’m not going to platform him. He’s running against me solely on my religion.”

  • The Trump administration has been quietly deporting migrants from Mexico to different countries in Central America despite the Mexican government’s willingness to accept the return of all its citizens, two Department of Homeland Security officials told CBS News.

U.S. immigration authorities have been sending deportees from Mexico to Guatemala and Honduras, flying them around Mexican territory instead of returning them to their homeland, the DHS officials said, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

The officials said one of the objectives of the deportations, which have not been formally announced by the U.S. government, is to deter illegal immigration from Mexico by sending some of its citizens further south and farther away from the U.S.-Mexico border.

… The deportations have been occurring for months and have sent hundreds of Mexican citizens to Honduras and Guatemala, one of the DHS officials said. It was not immediately clear what the precise number is.

  • Standard revolving door paradigm; the departure itself says little about the admin’s health. What’s interesting is where she’s going.

Trust Ventures’ mission statement from their website:

“Backs founders building generational companies in markets where public policy and regulation, not technology, are the primary barrier to progress – energy, housing, healthcare, insurance, and advanced manufacturing. Pairs capital with in-house legal and policy strategy to help portfolio companies navigate and reshape regulatory environments.”

I’ll leave the interpretation to the reader…

  • Save you a click: DNC voted to put abolishing ICE on the party platform—it doesn’t represent concrete legislative action at this time, just a commitment towards it.

The resolution calls on Democratic members of Congress to enact legislation dissolving ICE and winding down the immigration detention system. It also calls for restricting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding unless certain enforcement activities end, including workplace raids, mass roundups, arrests at courthouses, arrests at ICE check-ins, enforcement actions near schools and houses of worship, and other operations, as well as terminating contracts with private detention providers.
