New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Jonah Orion Wheeler is again drawing attention for his views on transgender issues after calling “gender ideology” an “illiberal, backwards way of thinking” in a new video. The remarks follow Wheeler’s previous support for legislation restricting transgender rights, adding another chapter to a record that has repeatedly put him at odds with LGBTQ+ advocates and fellow Democrats.

It’s easy. It’s all because it’s disgusting to them. In their worldview bad things happen to bad people, so if you’re poor or homeless, you’re a bad person. And that’s revolting, so poor people suffering is good actually.

Women are also disgusting. They need to remain at their station. That’s why they hate LGBTQ+ people, we don’t conform to their ideas.

Lesbians and trans-men are disgusting because they were lesser and claim to be more. Trans-women and gay dudes are the reverse of that; we’re debasing ourselves by being lesser.

It’s all about social hierarchy and domination, people needing to remain in their spot, happy with their lot.

Religion and the mindset it fosters is evil, because it causes even regular, caring people to do and excuse the most heinous things, thinking that it’s good.

Mother Teresa is a great example, a literal saint, yet a horrible woman who deliberately made people suffer because she believed that suffering to be holy. To be Good.

Right. Conservatism is about hierarchy. Hierarchy is good and natural. You get shit on by your betters, and you get to shit on your lessers. Trying to change that is horrifying. It’s going to mess up the world! And if hierarchy isn’t good and natural, then all the suffering I experienced was unjust, and all the cruelty I inflicted was mere cruelty. Can’t have that. I’m a good person who deserves my lot in life. Even if it’s not royalty. There have to be royals.

It’s a shit world view built on cruelty and cowardice.

This is the answer. Capitalism and its brother fascism also require violence and exploitation to maintain these hierarchies because they go against the actual human tendencies toward freedom, equality, and community.
