The Republican Party has a neo-Nazi problem.
This is not slander or pejorative or innuendo; it is the plain truth of the matter, a conclusion drawn from simple observation. And the problem has been getting worse.
Also:
You’ll notice that most of these people are in their 20s and 30s. That is no coincidence; it is clear that among the young staffer and operative class of the Republican Party are people with neo-Nazi sympathies and white supremacist views. Last year, for example, leaked messages from a group chat of Young Republicans from chapters across the country — who ranged in age from 18 to 40 — included racial slurs, support for Nazi ideas and a declaration of admiration for the leader of the Third Reich, all framed as jokes.
Holy shit, kudos to this guy for not doing the brain-dead and completely lazy nonsense of blaming all this horribleness on old people (or “boomers”).
People need to wake the fuck up and stop engaging in ageism and thinking “young people will save us”. First clue is that is the exact same shit boomers would tell each other when they were adolescents - they invented the “don’t trust anyone over 30” horseshit.
Because it’s not like the young are somehow magically inoculated against horribly stupid ideas. I’d say on things like vaccines, they may be arguably worse (measurably so) than boomers. And when it comes to understanding just where fascist ideas lead, they may be in the very worst position to resist this sort of thinking…

Yes, It’s Fascism
Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.
Is this article from c. 2008? or c. 1974? or c. 1980? or c. 1992?
In all seriousness, this is from Bouie and he’s great at pointing at the epic level nonsense about how the right (and their collaborators in the Murc’s Law Media) were crying about how they were suffering under some kind of “woke” regime.
I’ve posted this a few times already, but here it is again. Very worth watching:

I do wonder how long he’ll be able to contribute to Murc’s Law Media.

They’ve been off the deep end since Clinton was in office. Nice of people to finally realize it.
Try 1968.
The Southern Strategy has really paid off.
The Republican Party is a neonazi problem.
Lol no shit
Oh please… They were racist, anti environmental, authoritarian thugs for all of the 60 years I’ve been alive. This isn’t a new thing.
Nixon started a secret war and bombed a neutral country.
There is more than one kind of evil in the world. They’ve changed which one they are
Lived through both facades and definitely disagree.
It’s all the same underneath. Greed, lust and the absence of empathy.
The seven deadly sins has always been with us.
And their current leader is an unrepentant walking embodiment of ALL seven
You haven’t heard? It’s eight deadly sins now.
Slop -> sloþ -> sloth
I’ll never figure out what shmust is
I don’t think you could make the argument that they haven’t been rapidly devolving, and especially since 2024. The level of evil and corruption is unprecedented.
Devolving? No.
Just not trying to hide it anymore.
I remember someone saying during his first term, “Not everyone that voted for trump is a Nazi, but every Nazi voted for trump.”
That was true in 2016, but not 2020 or especially 2024. In 2024, everyone knew or should’ve known what they were supporting.
“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
In this case, a lot of them actually did explain how bad they wanted to hurt the libs.
You might be right under certain circumstances, but they cop to actual malice in this case.
I no longer believe that.
That’s been the case since Nixon unveiled his ‘Southern Strategy’ in 1968.
Seems like the republican party has no problem whatsoever with neo-nazis.
I don’t think this is anything new.
Only difference is Turnip tripped over the curtains and now everyone can see the stage.
You helped create this situation NYT. I remember a NYT reporter being interviewed on a podcast. The interviewer asked if he would prefer Trump as prez or not because of the views. He responded that he preferred to have Trump. Although I know that that’s just one reporter, I know some of their journalists do good work, they still did a lot of harm to this country for money.
I remember them covering for GWB during the lead up to the Iraq war and covering for Reagan during Iran-Contra. They are 110% bootlicking collaborators who will always side with whoever they think is the most powerful.
FYI archive.is will turn your browser into a botnet node to attack others
Man, what an absolute rabbit-hole this turned out to be. This comment from a lobste.rs post seems to have a timeline of the whole ordeal. This seems to be the blog post that kicked everything off. Calling that doxxing strikes me as making a mountain out a molehill. The blog author found some names attached to domain registration (if the registering individual didn’t want those public then they should’ve enable domain privacy), inferred the archive.is site admin’s location to maybe Germany, maybe Eastern Europe, maybe Russia (based on publicly accessible forum posts), noted that it’s a one-man show that can’t possibly cover its own costs and may not exist in the future, and even offered to support the archive.is admin:
It’s a testament to their persistence that they’re managed to keep this up for over 10 years, and I for one will be buying Denis/Masha/whoever a well deserved cup of coffee.
And for that the archive.is admin changed their site to hijack visitors into a DDOS botnet against the blog site. That is some crazy work.
Archive.is came out of gamergate as a tool to enable kicking women out of video game journalism. It’s not shocking that the person who controls it behaves badly. They’re also by far and away the most reliable way to hand out a paywall bypass. Which completely stinks
They’re also by far and away the most reliable way to hand out a paywall bypass.
Except that they have been caught altering the content of some pages that they had archived. Those alteration were part of the above linked grudge/DDOS with lobste.rs linked by another user above. Since they did it once, it makes me suspicious of pages loaded from them as I cannot be confident that they wouldn’t again change a snap-shot’s content.
They’re also the only ones who mean that people don’t need to register to access the NYT right now
GOP is a fascist party.
Correction. The GOP is mask off.
