Online games sites, AI chatbots and companions as well as social media platforms will soon have to carry out age verification when a user opens a new account, according to documents obtained by Euractiv.


My steam account is 22 years old. I wonder if I will need to verify that I’m in fact older than 18, LOL
My gold gmail account was 21 years old but google still took down my restaurant reviews if the owners complained - due to me allegedly being a recently created bot account. So I don’t think they take that into account at all.
You will have to verify that you are the one who is using your account.
That doesn’t prove more than the age of the account, though - if I share the account details with anyone, there’s more than one user and at least one is of unknown age. And assuming the og owner isn’t e.g. dead (or made several accounts), it’d make no difference to verifying my age now to prove I’m an adult…
