On Labor Day, we honor the workers who came before us by fighting for the workers who come next.”
Julie Su, the former acting US Labor Secretary who now serves as New York City’s deputy mayor for economic justice, will oversee the new office, which will be led by longtime union organizer Tony Perlstein.
Damn man, living in Seattle I am jealous of what NYC got. Our mayor is still figuring out how to communicate to the public.
Mamdani has a lot of charisma and hired really good pr people. She needs to figure that shit out. He also rises above the situations so he can clear the way for an agenda. She seems to be reacting to everything.
It’s a hard job man and you shouldn’t expect the mayor to be able to communicate with their constituents on day one. Just give them 3 or 4 election cycles. Maybe soon.
Did she not just get the kids free lunch and breakfast? Sure shes a policy wonk but, I feel like she’s doing better than 98% of all mayors.
That plan was approved by the City Council well before her time. This time around it just coincidentally lined up with a surplus in affordable housing funding surplus (weird how the city still has a huge affordable housing issue). Free lunches have been around for a while they’ve just finally been funded for all SPS… For now… Until the funding is gone again.
