I agree Putin is a bastard, like any great man currently in power, though I think he’s not behind everything. It’s like saying the Nazis won because of French or American influence to destabilise the Weimar republic. Certainly, efforts were made to destabilise competing nations, but only focusing on that ignores the crises that to this day continue to bring forward reactionary sentiment. Sweden for example has high rates of unemployment.
The Russian interference with both the 2016 US Presidential elections through Cambridge Analytica and Brexit is very much documented through ISC’s “Russia Report” (July 2020).

This doesn’t prove anything, except affirm what I was saying about interference. Russia was not the only culprit behind Trump winning 2016, there are also factors other factors outside of that. Structural changes in rural communities for example and the aftershocks of 2008.
It’s kind of absurd that they’re shaming the place that is more or less the originator of Lemmy. I think it’s the third time in a month or so that someone used the instance I just happen to be using as an “argument” for why I’m wrong.
It’s not really shaming, it’s creating awareness that anytime someone says something about Putin or the Russians or Chinese, a user comes with NoT JuSt rusSiA! And they happen to be .ml accounts.
Russia has been trying to destabilise the west for decades now and there’s plenty of evidence pointing the same way.
We can have a discussion whether you think Russia “has to” attack because they feel NATO is encroaching on former Soviet territories, and I would probably agree, but that doesn’t mean Putin’s oligarchy is finger licking innocent, or even just a minor player.
Another thing very typical in these arguments: “that didn’t happen”, followed by no evidence. And self victimisation “we’re the OG, respect your elders”.
Very poor arguments, and tricks only used when a party is losing an argument.
Also you’re not wrong, it’s just that Putin’s oligarchy doesn’t need any unpaid (let’s hope) defence in internet forums.
That is kind of the case? But never mind. I am not downplaying Russia’s efforts, at the same time I am not going to blind myself to intrinsic facts about economies like the US’.

I have never said they’re innocent ;_;

I think that can’t be argued against. Let’s extend that line of thinking to Palantir, Elbit Systems, Facebook and so on.
I know there are one or two Putinists and unabashed Ayatollah fans on the .ml instance but it’s not representative of every user.

Hello .ml account.

Hi?

i’m kind of starting to think we should start shaming reddit.world like they do our instance
No, because feudposting is immensely cringe.
The fediverse is stronger together. Our internet comrade.
