Trump doesn’t care what we want.
Glad to hear it, I really gotta realize that Facebook isn’t the “majority” it’s mostly conservatives
On there they’re like “Oh so you’re for changing the gender of a child, but not for renaming a lake.” and “So you’ll let Mike call himself Jennifer, but renaming a lake is out?”
I gotta stop using it, but it’s the best place to get news updates.
Stop using Facebook
My therapist has asked me to. That transphobia isn’t good for my mental health.
“Oh so you’re for changing the gender of a child, but not for renaming a lake.”
Yes you dumb bitch, one of those is being overseen by a medical professional with consent of the parent, the other is a wannabe dictator throwing a fit and trying to antagonize our closest allies.
Conservatives deserve to be slapped every time they crow about freedom while expecting to casually limit the freedoms of others.
I am convinced Republicans don’t understand context
FB is such an enshittified mess these days. I log in there maybe only a few times a year. I recently heard Cory Doctorow talking about the early days of FB, and I do remember those days. I had my doubts about their intents from the outset, but even I didn’t imagine it would descend so far.
BTW, don’t use Nextdoor, it seems to be even worse. The thing seems to be designed to give a permission structure for busybody Karens to police their neighborhoods.
As can be expected the opinions on there are just…ridiculous. Particularly around things like water use.
Seems like it’s bots and/or posts being manipulated to push a more conservative agenda. There’s no way there’s that many morons on FB.
All I know is that there isn’t one story about a trans person without a dozen “You mean [birth gender]!” And at least five jpegs of someone wiping their ass with the gay pride flag.
And god help you if it’s a post about Sarah McBride… they keep posting Timmy from South Park (in reference to her deadname)
Every trans friendly post from trans bloggers is FULL of these assholes to the point where it’s impossible to support them without being bombarded by transphobic posts.
So much transphobia…
So many “LGB drop the T” posts from people who are obviously straight (Right Wingers trying to make the community look divided)
Also anti vaxxers up the ass.
Majority of Americans are starting to realize they don’t exist in a democratic system … because their government really doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
They are not beginning to realise anything. There has always been a majority against him, the numbers are basically the same. It is just that the US archaic election system allows a party to completely rule the country based on a minority, because in the US land = votes.
Trump has never had majority support from Americans, so every poll will show that a majority opposes him. It is unfortunately not a sign of the US waking up or political change.
I agree that this is the big issue. I need to see a majority of GOP against him as well as a supermajority if not a consensus of independents to feel like we’ve broken this Trump fever. I also need a supermajority of GOP to be against authoritarianism to believe we broke through the underlying problem with fascism in our system.
It does care what people vote, at least somewhat.
And I bet lots of Americans will fall in line and vote “R” regardless of what they think about what Trump is doing.
I’d love to see some of the brainstems that support getting taxed more and renaming a lake for petty reasons getting grilled on the reasons why they support such things.
And no, the people interviewing should not just stop asking when they say something stupid like “because donnie is so awesome” or “make merica grate gin” or whatever. Ask them why it’s a good move. Just what the fuck is the upside to spending a ton of money on renaming a thing? What is the upside to taxing ourselves more on goods coming here? Why are we declaring war on Canada, FFS?
Blaming Canada is all they can do as they can’t blame themselves or their dear leader Trump:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/gop-republicans-canada-tariffs-trump-9.7329848
Texas Republican August Pfluger praised Trump for bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. and pinned blame for the trade war on Ottawa.
“It’s a war that is perpetuated by Canada,” Pfluger told CBC News. “The Canadians need to get reasonable. They’ve taken advantage of the United States for a long time.”
This trade war against Canada was started by the USA when they unilaterally violated the existing signed CUSMA deal (agreed to during the Trump 1.0 administration) by imposing tariffs on our steel and aluminum. Canada responded in various ways including most provinces banning the sale of their alcohol. Complying with the existing agreement is not “taking advantage of the USA”. The trade deficit in goods in Canada’s favour is mostly due to us selling them crude oil at a discount. Almost 4 million barrels a day. Who’s taking advantage of who?
The USA escalated again on August 22 so there will be “dollar for dollar” increases in our tariffs for their products coming up on September 8:
As a result of the U.S.'s decision to impose a 50 per cent tariff on $27.6 billion of Canadian goods effective August 22, 2026, the Prime Minister announced that Canada will match the incoming U.S. Section 338 tariffs – dollar for dollar.
These new countermeasures on $27.6 billion in products imported from the U.S. will be effective as of 12:01 a.m., September 8, 2026.
The new targeted counter tariffs are concentrated in sectors such as steel and aluminum, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, plastics, and electronics. In certain sectors, such as steel and aluminum, existing counter-tariffs will increase from 25 per cent to 50 per cent to match U.S. rates.
Other existing counter-tariffs, including against U.S. autos, will also continue to apply.
Canada’s counter-tariffs are targeted against red/purple states such as carpet manufactured in the state of Georgia. Canada’s economy is smaller than the USA but there will still be negative impacts felt by the USA with higher prices for imported goods and less demand for their exports. Not good for the ruling party leading into their November mid-term elections.
Canada is right to target certain things. They know full well most Americans don’t support tiny-d donnie dumbass or his stupid war with Canada, and it’s not all of us that should pay for that asshole “winning” the election.
That majority should’ve seen it coming and voted accordingly
I honestly think having Obama as president for 8 years combined with gay marriage and all the bathroom bills and “men in women’s sports” completely broke a lot of brains.
In at least some anecdotal cases, people I’ve known that were kind of apolitical now seem to think that women’s basketball and “protecting the children” is of primary importance to the country.
I mean: what even the fuck. Some of these people don’t even have kids. And don’t even know of one instance of “men in women’s sports” anywhere near them, including in the nearby schools that their kids, if they even had them, would be attending.
The propaganda network the cons have set up really is something to behold. Sportsball won’t meaningfully change most people’s lives one way or another. Things like clean air, clean water, climate change, infrastructure, health care, a living wage, etc…most certainly will.
But we are arguing over sportsball. It’s just beyond stupid.
Frankly don’t believe much coming out of the usa these days. my first thought is always which tech bro is saying this and why?
You have the correct mindset to deal with any information from my country.
