A group of conservative Democrats in the House tried to one-up Republicans this week with a competing piece of legislation aimed at condemning the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and socialism in “all its forms,” after the GOP proposed an anti-socialist resolution that called for the passage of their marquee voter suppression legislation.
Last week, Republican Rep. Jeff Crank (Colorado) introduced a resolution that calls for the “condemnation and denouncement of socialism.” It calls out DSA, condemning the recent wave of DSA members running for Congress and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and says that DSA’s ideology is “incompatible with American values.”
The resolution clunkily segues into a call for the House to pass the GOP’s SAVE America Act, which puts burdensome restrictions on voting regarding ID requirements and proof of citizenship that civil rights advocates say would be the worst voter suppression bill ever passed by Congress.
The resolution reportedly infuriated some Democrats in the House — not because of the sweeping condemnation of an increasingly popular ideology among Democrats, but because the resolution contained the clause about passing SAVE America.
It’s kind of nice seeing the story calling these jackassses conservative instead of the normal moderate.
Stories like this are exactly what the fascists want. They want Democrats so busy fighting each other that they can’t provide a unified resistance. So far it’s working.
That’s one way to see it. The way I see it leftists are fighting fascists, and the latter happens to include a lot of Democrats.

Why we will get nowhere trying to reform the Democratic party. We need to tear it all down and replace them all or start a new party. Make no mistake they will primary Mamdani when he comes up for reelection. Hell they might use this bullshit to disqualify him and have him recalled. Seriously best thing he could do is continue his good works and do it under a new party

To undertake activities across every layer of society to influence what kind of people wind up on your voting ballot. If you wait until then to do anything about the people on the ballot, you’ve already lost to corporations who bought those people. They’re going to get elected then act against their constituents’ interests.
Revolution, long overdue.
Got a guide on how to get that done? Have to get millions of people on board to potentially sacrifice everything for a chance of change through revolution. When things like health insurance and being able to afford food are directly tied to employment, which can be taken away at a moments notice, especially if someone is active in a revolution, it’s really tough to get people to go all in.
I’m not saying it can’t happen, just that it’s probably not going to unless something truly significant happens that greatly affects the masses. Depending on how the midterms are handled and how much fuckery Republicans can instill, we might see something. I’m not saying bad things haven’t happened, but it hasn’t gotten bad enough for the majority of people yet to throw their lives at a revolution.

Unfortunately, there’s no mechanism to make that happen over night. What we’re seeing with the DSA is the first step in replacing them all. You’ll have a tough time convincing people stuck in there ways to vote more progressive, but the successes that Mamdani is having in NY and potentially other locations will hopefully spread and start to help turn that tide.
If people start actually feeling the benefits of progressive policies, some will start changing their views. The primaries have shown that tide is starting to shift. Hopefully we can ride that wave, get through a corrupt midterm, and maybe start to steer the ship in the right direction.
