I don’t recall either of those being worker-owned.
Democrats really need to just lean into the Right’s socialism accusations. Yes, Social Security and Medicare are socialism. So are fire departments and libraries. Normalize it.
Yeah, Marx would quibble that it’s supposed to describe the economy as a who but who gives a fuck.
- And streets
- And telecommunications (yes, Mobile phones, too)
- And electricity
Roads… bridges… Food subsidies… Oil subsidies…
Anyone whos bought a gallon of gas in the last 110 years is and has been a welfare queen. Man up and create your own power, hook up your own panels, be independent!
Roads… bridges… Food subsidies… Oil subsidies…
That’s just public spending. Every government does it. Socialism is more than infrastructure and subsidies. It’s when the people doing the work own the means of production. “Own” as in “have meaningful control of,” not just nominal ownership.
Man up and create your own power, hook up your own panels, be independent!
You’re getting a lot closer with that.
Hahahahahahahaha, corpo democrats are billionaire bootlickers.
Socialism n.

Yah the DNC is a socialist organization and your boss at work just wants what’s best for you. America stands for liberty and justice and your landlord works hard to earn your income.
Give me a break!
No, Democrats are sheep dogs and their role in the duopoly has become, in part, to support a few token concessions to the working class in order to stop them from organizing for socialism and unseating the duopoly.
Remember, FDR’s administration created the racial redlining framework and put anyone who looked vaguely Asian into concentration camps and stole their property. If we change the word Asian to Hispanic, we basically get a description of what Trump is doing.
Remember that every single Democrat since FDR has fought or overseen a fight against labor organizers, with the latest being Joe Biden deciding that train workers don’t deserve sick days.
The Democrats are not socialists because they support concessions for the express purpose of preventing a working class revolt. They are the good cop in a “good cop / bad cop” routine and anyone who still believes that the Ds can be trusted because they brought you a coffee and loosened your cuffs a little is a fool
Embracing a few socialist policies does not a socialist make.
I mean, really. Might as well say republicans are socialist because they let corporations socialize the losses.
(Though republicans suck hard enough that corpo dems are preferable while still sucking)
Might as well say Republicans are socialists because they literally took an ownership stake in Intel, they are picking winners and losers in industries, market manipulation, and they openly support corruption and cronyism which are commonly some of the worst outcomes from socialist systems.
Most people don’t even know what socialism actually is, the democrats should just call all the republican stuff socialist because it’s certainly big government.
If the government takes away services and increases its own budget to do its own state planned things that’s basically socialism to the extreme worst end of it. If full government control is what people are afraid of it’s what they are absolutely getting with republicans.
because they literally took an ownership stake in Intel
That’s state capitalism.
They also support public education — something Republicans have been trying to get rid of. And roads paid for through taxes instead of tolls.
I’ve always said that if it makes me a socialist to want clean water and air, and for people to have food and medical care and housing, then I guess I’m a socialist. (Am actually a registered independent.)
Americans distinguish between “social” and “socialist” challenge impossible. Social security and Medicare are liberal policies.
And that’s a good thing!
