And because I had to try it…

There’s no excuse for that shit. I could see some 5 foot tall woman being nervous of a big black guy. It’s not alright, but society isn’t perfect and I’m not going to pretend it is.

But when the question is clearly and blatantly racist and Google assumes the victim is the problem? That’s every sort of fucked up.

Problem solved. Now I need to finally change my email address. I’ve definitely put that off too long.

Just watching a video by Britt Hartley which summarizes John Grey’s thesis: humanity has not made any moral or psychological process in the last 10,000 years, only technological progress.

Yeah, obviously. Aboriginal societies had already achieved communism thanks to their advanced knowledge of human psychology, 10,000 years ago.

Actually, what happened is we evolved religion, which allowed us to former larger and larger groups and slaughter those aboriginal commies. So, yes, I think we’ve made progress, after a fashion, but it is for the greater good of the group at the expense of almost every individual in that group–think an ant colony.

Yes, but monotheism mobilizes more units.

I remember playing Rome: Total War and always having trouble with native religion the further from Rome I went. Christianity and Islam solved that problem by having only one God anyone could believe in.

This ain’t about religion, unless we’re counting cultural frames of references as religions. Actually, you know what, I’m on board. Let’s do this.

Europeans worship Mammon, the ur-god of greed. Mammon is a god worshipped in the secret corners of one’s mind, not worshipped consciously. Europeans design their technology after chasing plenty. Their agriculture sucks minerals from the earth, creating food to feed huge populations, even at the expense of personal welfare and health. Europeans are miserable, but there are so many of them, and they have so much.

Aboriginal people worship the Rainbow Serpent, and very consciously. The Rainbow Serpent is a shaper of landscapes. It slithered along the ground, digging riverbeds with its tail, to create a home for people. Aboriginal religion is about quality of life, and connectedness with ecosystems. Aboriginal technology shapes the land to make labour easy, using deep ecological knowledge to understand the consequences. Before colonisation, most Aboriginal people only needed to work a few hours a day. They spent the rest of their time discussing philosophy and furthering the arts.

Now, which of these two philosophies of life, technology, and civilisational organisation do you think is better at killing people?

And furthermore, is killing people the point of… you know, all this? Are we “advancing” if we get better at genocide?

I don’t have a lot of hope for humanity because I see that we create destructive systems that can only be countered with even more destructive systems. Everyone advocating for peaceful co-existence is just advocating to get wiped out by the next extractive/destructive civilization.

We are the scorpion on the back of the frog.

Well let’s quit being the scorpion, and let’s not be the frog either. Let’s be the turtle. Turtle won’t get stung in the back. Turtle can help the scorpion without having to fear, even if the scorpion doesn’t like it.

Cultivate both kindness and defence. Be dangerous enough to protect yourself and others, but not dangerous enough to cause unnecessary harm. Help fascists, even if they don’t like the help that’s being offered.

I think Australia should be building missiles to launch at IDF bases, and welcoming refugees from the US.
