    Yeah I mean I guess if you want to ignore the Uyghurs genocide by China you can pretend they’re less racist towards Muslims.

      Valid, but I think Islam occupies less of a space in the media and as a boogie man in China vs the west.

      In the US, england and especially India Islam is one of the main enemies of the right wing and a lot of right wing media and discussion revolves around portraying them as dangerous. This combined with our multiple wars in the middle east will make the association of Muslim = bad guy stronger in English media and online discourse.

      China’s attitudes towards Islam are more about pretending it doesn’t exist and manifesting that through oppressive policies to try and force them to assimilate. This combined with Chinese censorship means media and social media isn’t going to talk about Islam or uyghurs much, either negatively or positively.

      It seems closer to the US’s relationship to native Americans, most people don’t really think about them or view them as a threat. If you asked a right winger though they’d probably say their culture is inferior and they need to assimilate, but he wouldn’t say there as big of a problem as the other brown people.
