Emily Underwood, top deputy to Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, has announced a departure for Trust Ventures, a venture capital firm, where she will be a partner.

Underwood’s departure set off fireworks on social media.

“It’s a sinking ship,” Democratic strategist Mike Nellis posted on X about the news.

“Rat flees sinking ship,” Jason Tufele Carl Johnson, a former staffer for Rep. Raul Grijalva in Arizona, posted on X.

Even if the rats are fleeing a sinking ship, somehow Trump convinces even more rats to get on board.

Standard revolving door paradigm; the departure itself says little about the admin’s health. What’s interesting is where she’s going.

Trust Ventures’ mission statement from their website:

“Backs founders building generational companies in markets where public policy and regulation, not technology, are the primary barrier to progress – energy, housing, healthcare, insurance, and advanced manufacturing. Pairs capital with in-house legal and policy strategy to help portfolio companies navigate and reshape regulatory environments.”

I’ll leave the interpretation to the reader…

What a bullshit headline. Name one person who is even remotely shocked by this.
