I read a blog post once about that. If I recall, it made the argument that conservatism is fundamentally about hierarchy and abuse. Child abuse is about hierarchy and abuse. It’s thus not surprising they go together.
The blog was more sophisticated than my memory of it, of course.
I am genuinely surprised people still get arrested for that. I suppose protection is only for the super top dogs.
Or that’s how they recruit people. Either find those with that kind of history, then make them work by offering, then spring the trap anyway, “for justice”.

I was going to comment this. I keep seeing people arrested for pedo behavior but sentencing is a whole other piece that isn’t as headline grabbing.
They know they have complete loyalty when they have that kind blackmail on someone.
“Skin in the game”. Getting people dirty and having dirt on them is foundational for any crime ring, but especially pedo freaks.
It’s always who you most expect.
