A new CBS News poll is digging into how Americans feel about capitalism, socialism and the economy at large with the 2026 midterm elections just a few months away. CBS News' executive director of elections and surveys Anthony Salvanto has more.
There is no way that is true. Harris sucked, and I voted for her. It’s the other choice that was far, far worse. Dems were basically forced at gunpoint to vote Harris.
Polls on views of an ideology and party polls of a candidate are a bit different.
Regardless, these are real views from people who respond to polling opportunities, so they will most likely vote in kind.
You can absolutely make the argument that the sample size is too small to get an accurate read on how the US would vote in a presidential run, but it is not really a reason to say that DSA candidates will never win.
What this poll says to me is that Socialism is not seen as a boogeyman AS MUCH as it used to be. Which is pretty damn good news for anybody using the word in their campaign.
Harris was a victim of both sexism and racism in the voting process. A sad truth in the world we live in. You take those out of the picture when presenting socialism, and there might be a fighting chance.
Brother, a black man with the middle name of Hussein won a presidential election.
Yes, racism and mysogyny were challenges in the 2024 race, but it was the Democratic policy that was the primary issue.
Look at what Obama offered in his race and compare it to what Kamala offered in her race. That lack of promise accompanied with her refusal to split from Biden on foreign policy (Gaza) was enough to both not draw in enough voters and push some over to Trump.
Take a look at Trump’s policies as well. We who are here know he was lying, but to the uneducated voter, it sounded good enough to vote for over the other candidate.
94% of democrats viewed Harris positively during the 2024 election.

Are you saying between two options, she was worse than Trump? She most definitely was positive amongst other options.
What I’m saying is she didn’t win at 94% so how are socialists going to at 58%?

I’m pointing out how out of touch from reality the average leftist is in this site.
By misunderstanding what a poll indicates?

Tell me how pointing out that 58% is less then 94% is ‘misunderstanding polls.’
Your take right there is exactly your misunderstanding of polls. Those are not comparable due to what they are polling.
Harris had 94% positive polling amongst democrats and she lost the general.
Socialism is polling at 58% with democrats which means it’s probably under 25% of the general population.

I agree. I was just pointing out the (still existing) racism and sexism present in the US voting system.
With half the polling?
Sure, among 2 candidates.
No I’m pretty sure those were the democrats who viewed her favorably.
Who was the other democratic candidate?
