Isn’t false paternity a big issue there? Their ban on paternity tests isn’t going to make men more comfortable starting families.

Why should it be a problem? Contrary to popular online believes, most people and also most women are not cheating in their relationships. And many of those who do are also clever enough to use some protection.

Because, you said it yourself. Popular belief. It doesn’t matter what reality is in this scenario. The government wants people to form families. So they should remove any perceived barriers. If there is a popular belief that false paternity is an issue, making testing illegal sends the wrong message. Marriage is declining in the US as well, and a lot of it is due to people feeling like it’s not worth the risk.
