I shop estate auctions. DVD/Blu-ray lots and the players always bid up I’m little bidding wars. Boxes of music CDs that are not classical or country get bid up pretty high. And vinyl that is not classical or country goes through the roof. Granted, that last one appears to be a popular wall ornament with the mid-generations.
Where are you? Most people I know can’t give away DVDs or music cds. They are effectively etrash at this point.
Vinyl on the other hand, suckers born every minute.
True, every market is different. Makes sense to me every time I’m outbid.
Free and clear music added to your personal digital library. Resell the CD. Or keep it.
I bought a record player that digitizes, on estate auction, for $5. You can do the same with LPs. But it’s “cool” to hold onto those.
Country doesn’t sell. Or if it does, whole boxes go for a single digit.
The trick in many genres seems the market border crossing. Country might sell low priced in USA, where it originated, but might sell higher priced in Europe or Asia. In Brazil many vinyl records that in Europe easily sell for double or triple digits can still be found for silly prices by crate diggers. Similar until a decade ago with classical music: super common garage sale 1 € records could sell to China for 15 € or more if they were NM…
Sure, but with cost of shipping, most online estate sales are limited to the radius of local pickup, minus the very rich.
