Anti-LGBTQ+ Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) followed in the president’s footsteps on Monday when he used an anti-trans slur to describe cisgender Democratic South Carolina Senate candidate Annie Andrews.
Scott said during an appearance on Real America’s Voice, “Annie Andrews, as President Donald Trump calls her, tr***y Annie, here’s a person who believes, as a pediatrician, for trans surgery, gender surgery for trans kids. That’s wrong. Period,” Scott said.

I look forward to people with your mindset being left in the dust. This is just another instance of the right to free speech being different from the freedom from consequences. But sure, go ahead, keep defending using slurs (despite the fact that every campaign that ran on slurs and attacks lost). We can work on actual policy that Americans want and also say “yeah, language like that is wrong and we’re gonna move past it.” Why are you going to bat for bullies?
Yes, saying “that language is hurtful and not ok and it’s time to move past it” is perfectly OK in my book. Guess an argument about how much to learn into it is too nuanced for in-group internet dynamics.
Then to be clear, you’re shadowboxing here. No one in these comments thinks we should be focusing on language policing over any other issues. Everyone here is arguing the same point I am, that condemning fucked up speech and working on policy are not mutually exclusive. Are these people arguing for “Political Correctness” over policy in the room with us right now?
Fair.
