Democrats notched an upset victory in South Carolina’s Senate race, NBC News projects, with Annie Andrews toppling Republican Sen. Darline Graham, who was appointed this year to succeed her late brother, longtime Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Andrews, a pediatrician, will be the state’s first Democratic senator in more than 20 years. Donald Trump carried South Carolina by more than 17 percentage points two years ago.

The race was within the margin of error according to polling. Maybe a major upset from a political geography perspective but not if you believe polling.

An upset in the sense that if you heard that two years ago that SC would elect a Democrat senator in 2026 people would have laughed at you. A 17+ point shift in two years is insane.

Yeah I mean I alluded to that but I just want to point out that in this era of being blackpilled about the polls, if you watched and trusted them this wasn’t a complete shock.
