In an effort to stem the bleeding from the backlash about their AI usage and their CEO’s meltdown, they decide to do the exact opposite and go all in.

…I’m tired, boss.

Buy a domain, have your email address be tied to that domain and set it so the DNS record redirects to the email provider of your choice.

You can now swap email providers without having to change your email address.

For most people who are not into tech, grasping the concepts required for setup would be difficult. However, if you can mostly understand the first sentence in my comment above, it should be fairly straightforward.

Because it’s not super easy. DNS management isn’t a button-click process, for the most part: if you’re trying to control your data and care about privacy, there’s no super easy service out there for you. You need to find a domain registrar, buy the domain you want, and configure it yourself. The help your email provider gives you to configure it might be grammatically different from how your registrar wants it entered, so it can be an annoying process.

It’s not rocket surgery, but it’s not just “enter name and password and IMAP server name and voila” either.

Im going to do this. Can you just make up an email address on the fly then? as long as its @the same custom domain I mean. Ive been using firefox relay for masks, but it doesnt work in person when I have to write one in a form or something. That would be sick if you could just make up randomwords@mycustomdomain.com. Have you ever run into any problems with this I should be aware of?
