Win for Talarico ain’t a win for leftists. Yall libs are on a different planet. Also in no way did this person say “I’d rather the right winger win”. I’ll believe the “blue wave” stuff when I see it, and if it does happen then I’d like to see what Dems do with it.

How is a Talarico not a win for leftists? That would imply that Paxton is an equally good or better option for leftists.

Even if Talarico comes in and passes one liberal policy or even none, that is still an improvement over Paxton. Do you think that as a senator that Talarico wouldn’t vote with the Democratic party on most if not all policies? Having a dog voted in as senator would be a win to the left because it would mean it’s not Paxton.

It takes some real mental gymnastics to come to the conclusion that he’s not a win for the left.

What policies, destroying the Middle East? Oh let me guess, that started with Trump. You mean the policies like giving American money to Nazi soldiers in Ukraine? Because yes I do believe that he would, and that’s my point, the Dems in my state use both of those as positive policies.

That’s why I can’t vote blue no matter who out of principle. I’m sorry I like to hold politicians to standards. But again, I don’t believe in a blue Texas or blue Florida y’all would have much better luck holding politicians to lefty standards up here in the Midwest.

If you think that every politician will vote for finding more destruction in the middle east, then that point is a wash across the board. In the end either Paxton or Talarico will be a senator after this election regardless if you vote or not. I’m not even going to address your Ukrainian Nazis bullshit, because of all the dumb shit you’ve said, that’s right there at the top.

So with that, what’s left? How about all of the other policies that get voted on, like domestic policies that do directly effect Americans? You do know that there in fact is more than just the middle east, right? Paxton has shown time and time again to be bad for Americans and Talarico by all accounts will push better policy. So yea, that’s a win for the left.

You act like if everyone just stops participating in voting that all of this will just correct itself, and that’s dumb AF. Maybe you also missed how in the Midwest there are many positions that are predicted to flip blue. That is holding representatives accountable to a degree, but I’m sure that’s not the accountability that you’re looking for.

So after all that, it sounds like instead of voting you’re going to go out and be the catalyst that holds these people accountable, right? You’re not just going to be some keyboard warrior and just criticize people that are taking action at the polls, instead of just pissing and moaning, right?

So it’s lose, or lose even more. I’d rather lose less when the alternative is even worse.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you mean “knowing your audience?” In regards to Talarico and Texas? Are you saying appealing to conservative voters because they’re Texan? Or Zionists? I’m confused

I mean red Texas isn’t automatically going to go with a far left person . Hopefully talarico wins, then hopefully you get some policies that benefit or win over more voters.

          Baby steps.

I think the reason he even has a chance is because Paxton is fkn awful.

Really hope Texas gets just a taste of governance that is trying to do a good job. So many Republicans are kakistocratic grifters that they have to gerrymander and suppress turnout while also lying about everything just to make sure their base never gets a taste of what competent leadership even feels like.

So you mean his audience is conservatives? I’m still confused, sorry, my question being what exactly is his audience?

Are you saying Texas = Conservatives so conservative is the audience? Or you’re saying his audience is Zionists?

I think their point is that a leftist candidate would never win in Texas, so Talarico is preferable to Paxton even though his politics aren’t ideal. Perfect is the enemy of good, and will simply slide us into a worse and worse situation. We need to make incremental improvements and organize on the local level, because the revolution isn’t happening tomorrow.

Fair enough, I only hope that time spent organizing means on volunteer services like food kitchens or parties that can help with organizing unions or rent strikes etc and not just for the democrats.

I don’t necessarily agree with his reach across the aisle style but if he does flip Texas blue I’d be impressed at least. I’m pretty far from Texas and in fact in a very blue state so I’ll admit voting is a little dif in my county, and I wouldn’t advocate against voting. I just hope it would be an incremental change. Talarico should go DSA if he wins!

That’s exactly what I mean. I don’t give a damn about the Democratic party. Organizing on the local level is for mutual aid, labor protections, etc. Local leftist (not Dems, leftists) organizations do a lot.

Well it’s nice to come around to some common ground. By “not a win for leftists” I only meant not really anything that will shift liberals to organization (in fact sometimes it seems evidence points to liberals winning = less organized action and more capitulation to the capitalist class/ratchet effect yadda yadda) But I would love to be proven wrong; that a blue Texas would actually make a difference for the left and not just create another AOC/Newsome to eye up the presidency in 8 years.
