“We know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors.”

Democrats across the party’s ideological spectrum—in Michigan and around the country—rallied behind US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed after his erstwhile primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens, endorsed Republican Mike Rogers two days before a race that could decide control of the upper chamber.

While Stevens claimed in a CNN appearance Sunday night that she’s “been hearing from a ton of Dems” privately voicing support for her decision, she received nothing but backlash from fellow Democrats in public. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who quietly supported Stevens in her primary contest against El-Sayed, said that “this is a despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens.”

When even Schumer reads the room better than you. How’s the underside of the bus looking?

I really don’t think it’s a thrown under the bus thing. She maybe flung herself into oncoming traffic, but it’s not like this was done to her. The party was letting her get away with a lot to begin with, and she took it too far. How did she think it would go down endorsing a republican over a Democrat while Trump is in office. She forced their hand.
