“We know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors.”

Democrats across the party’s ideological spectrum—in Michigan and around the country—rallied behind US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed after his erstwhile primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens, endorsed Republican Mike Rogers two days before a race that could decide control of the upper chamber.

While Stevens claimed in a CNN appearance Sunday night that she’s “been hearing from a ton of Dems” privately voicing support for her decision, she received nothing but backlash from fellow Democrats in public. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who quietly supported Stevens in her primary contest against El-Sayed, said that “this is a despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens.”

I wonder if Haley endorsing Mike Rogers was actually the most beneficial thing she could do for the El-Sayed campaign, after all.

    Rip bozo regardless

At first, I didn’t think that this would move the needle much, but after seeing the level of backlash this close to the election, I’m betting that if there’s any effect on the election results, it will be in El-Sayed’s favor. This has caused a lot of people to rally around him in Support, while she has absolutely torched any future political career for herself.

She really no longer had a career anyway if she lost. She was out of the House in January no matter what as soon as she decided to run for Senate.

She didn’t have the national name recognition for anyone to give a shit about her after she left. So her option was basically become a lobbyist. And this is her audition for her existing donors to prove she’s willing to do what they want when they want it.

It’s like that thing in fiction where people become villains to unite the world against them. I will remember your sacrifice, Haley Stevens; rest in piss.

        This 100%. It’s painfully obvious.

She decided not to run for her House seat when she ran for Senate. So she gone in January no matter what. She’s always taken AIPAC money, and trying to torpedo El-Sayed is almost certainly what she was told was needed to continue to get paid by her donors/employers/owners once she’s no longer in Congress.

When even Schumer reads the room better than you. How’s the underside of the bus looking?

I really don’t think it’s a thrown under the bus thing. She maybe flung herself into oncoming traffic, but it’s not like this was done to her. The party was letting her get away with a lot to begin with, and she took it too far. How did she think it would go down endorsing a republican over a Democrat while Trump is in office. She forced their hand.

Haley Stevens did the “who’s coming with me” scene from Jerry McGuire, and the only person that followed her was her israel obsessed boyfriend.

So…Haley endorses Mike Roger’s political positions and therefore Trumps positions? I’d like to ask her that.

Maybe she’s doing the Batman in Dark Knight thing. She’s not the hero we need, but the one we deserve.
