Proton CEO Andy Yen projects a calm persona and rails against Big Tech and critiques AI. Internally, he is pushing engineers to build Proton with AI, even when they have security concerns.
Anyone have any recommendations for email, drive, vpn, and password manager?
Damnit, that’s a huge disappointment. Obscura actually uses Mullvad as its exit node, so that might sway me away from Obscura. Why is everyone a right wing nutjob???
NymVPN is pushing their own crypto coin, which is an instant red flag in my opinion.
Obscura is a US company and it is also using Mullvad exit servers themselves, so if your goal is to avoid Mullvad then it might not even be what you want.
Both are also more expensive than Mullvad.
Personally I do not think that avoiding Mullvad is even necessary. Mullvad does have a track record of actual good activism and I do not think this one co-founder’s donation is enough to offset all the good things Mullvad is doing.
The other co-founder distanced himself from the other guy’s donation. The company also issued a statement. The TLDR is: they always knew that they have different political views, but they are still working together to further their specific common goal of free information and privacy.

Yeah Mullvad was also my goto, I’ve been looking at ivpn as an option going forward.
