“People were taking cocaine in front of us [and] my sons cried for most of the game,”

    Oh, fuck off.

I don’t like cocaine: it makes people into worse versions of themselves, and isn’t even an interesting experience in the way that psychedelics can be. You get no insights on coke other than perhaps “cause I’m worth it, bitch”.

Having said that, if it’s so common and prohibition has been unsuccessful, it’s probably time to legalise and regulate it. Set up supply chains that are ethical (or at least more ethical than organised crime) and subject to legally enforceable standards on ingredients in the way that food, alcohol and pharmaceuticals are, so the lines of coke people are doing aren’t cut with whatever random chemicals were available (for the sake of future healthcare budgets as much as anything). Of course, restrict sales to over-18s only, tax it as one does alcohol (another harmful drug, albeit with a lot of social acceptability) and tobacco, and have notices on each package about the effects and side-effects of cocaine and where to seek help if you have a problem.

This is the big thing that needs talking about. It is damagingly hypocritical for law makers to be making anti drug laws, when so many of their front men are coke heads. Legalize, regulate, tax and move on.

Yeah, that’s something that shocked me a bit when I moved here. Some of my younger colleagues (and I mean young, most girls aged 19-22) casually spoke about their cocaine usage and even ketamine. I even learned about the “k hole” from them, lol. Scary. I know a couple of straight edge 20 somethings too though so I guess they’re bringing some balance to the force but damn.

I went to Edinburgh 15 years ago and got offered coke in a seedybar.

Summer years later on a clan meet a couple of my clean mates were open about their use.

So it doesn’t surprise me, it’s way more prevalent than in the Netherlands, however it’s in the up here as well. Not as openjy, in my estimation.

I started doing casual coke about 15 years ago when at the pub.
Once I started doing it I cannot believe how many people I noticed doing it, I guess I was just oblivious.

Coke free 15 years! Alcohol free, 15 hours.

Congrats! I’m nearly 24 hours sober at the moment, might go another. I’ve never done anything harder than acid, I’m kind of a self-control freak. And yes, deeply oblivious.

Not wanting to belittle your accomplishment at all, but if my stoner maths is holding up, doesn’t this mean you had a coke habit for like 7 weeks? Must’ve been a fun 7 weeks at least 😁

It was a heavy year. I got into a bit of debt with it and I credit my current anxiety issues with the amount of coke I put up my nose.

I don’t know about that. I’m fairly older than the average fedizen. I can tell you, when I was in my 20s, the guy selling at the average pub would definitely be trying to push a little charlie onto you at the same time. Likewise, if I went to a club I remember being offered “a line” on multiple occasions with different people present.

I was never interested in it myself though. But it was out there and very easily accessible.

Now-days, I have no idea. Because I’m generally doing neither activity. But I bet if you live in certain areas, it’s not changed at all.

Probably it depends a lot on where you live (or lived) though.

Maybe that’s it, I almost always have my kid with me so dealers don’t even look in my direction. Shame, probably would buy adderalls for my wife and child if they did.

We need cocaine just to get everything done these days.

Work, gym, reading, family, social life, hobbies. Need the extra energy just for the basics.

    Just legalise and tax it

At least people on coke are fun. Can’t be doing with the guy that smokes weed and ignores everyone for the rest of the night. I’ve never tried cocaine but I’ve always hated the messiness of it. People do lines off dirty surfaces or snort it from a key. They must lose like 20% of it, and it’s spenny too. Just get a tiny spoon or something you useless cokeheads.
