DNS Resolver Quad9 Will Leave France After Court Orders Piracy Blocking Penalty * TorrentFreak
torrentfreak.com
Quad9 is leaving France over pirate site blocking orders, which makes it the second DNS resolver to leave the country. Quad9 will stop serving French users on November 24, after a Paris court set a €1,000 daily penalty for not blocking pirate tennis streams. Faced with this order and roughly 20 other pending French cases, Quad9 says that it has no other viable option left.

‘Leaving France’ is probably just as effective as those DNS blocks in general… so not at all.

“Dear user… You can reach our DNS server under 9.9.9.9., also via https://dns.quad9.net/dns-query, tls://dns.quad9.net or quic://dns.quad9.net for encrypted communication because nobody needs to know which addresses you look up.
PS: If you are currently residing in France, pretend you did not ready any of this…”
