U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar will move out of her Washington, D.C., home that federal agents searched last week, she said Wednesday, noting that attention brought on by the raid has made her feel unsafe there.

Federal authorities are investigating potential fraud in her family’s immigration paperwork and have issued grand jury subpoenas to some of her relatives, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation.

Omar, who was born in Somalia and is a naturalized U.S. citizen, said Wednesday in her first interview since the search that she is “confident in the fact that I didn’t do anything wrong.”

I mean that was the point. It was obviously for intimidation and it worked. So… Mission accomplished…

I would worry they bugged my home if I was her. I’m not sure the move is over intimidation, but lack of trust/security in the current place.

Yup, this current administration would 100% take a page out of Nixon’s playbook and plant listening devices everywhere.

        Why not both?

I don’t see how it’s not intimidation as a main point. She was granted citizenship at 17. Even if we suppose the claims true, she was not an adult: any mistakes would be on her parents

I mean, the assault on her citizenship is an intimidation tactic, I’m just saying her moving isn’t necessarily her giving into the intimidation. It doesn’t sound like shes backing down from the fight in any meaningful way, so moving seems more about control than anything else.

They’re trying to argue that her father (deceased) committed immigration fraud by misstating her age, making his citizenship invalid, and therefore hers also, as it resulted from his fraud. It’s an absolutely idiotic argument for many reasons, and would never stand up in court, which leaves intimidation as the main point.

That was only one of the goals. They really do want to find a way to arrest or deport her.

Sure but in this case the goal is attacking his enemies and the deporting thing is just seen as an easy approach.

Which is easy partly because they’ve proven there is almost no pushback to them pursuing it recklessly

Technically I think the rules say that if you make the tiniest error it could invalidate it. The SCOTUS rulings don’t say that but if sent to them now they could change that. That’s usually based on discretion and a judges opinion, why having fascist toadies in all the steps is a big deal. There’s multiple steps with different judges having opportunity to pause it, so this probably won’t happen. But it’s enough to wreck a regular person’s life even without final denaturalization.

Right, she shouldve stayed and remained in fear of her home being invaded again. Or firebombed by brainwashed MAGA cunts.
